Greenland under the control of the US is a hedge on China. Russia already has ample arctic access, their entire northern border, whereas China has none. There are very limited opportunities for China to get a foothold, Greenland is by far the most valuable of them. In this case it neither helps or hurts Russia, but it hinders China.
