Why is trump meeting Putin in Alaska to discuss "swapping territories"?

Actually, I study history off and on. I know what's happened to societies who thought themselves to rule the world.

Every last one of them eventually collapsed.
Yet, societies have ruled the world.
History? Yep, got my own library.

Zelensky is not gonna cave.
I suspect he and his REAL allies in Europe are doing the calculations again -- if he tells Trump/Putin to go **** themselves, can Europe help him enough to keep fighting? Putin is teetering right now, he's on the edge, which is the only reason he's pretending to "negotiate".

Where do heads of state usually meet in the US?

Jeeze I dont know!! how about what ever makes sense, depending on particulars??
Do you think the Biden admin had a REASON for meeting Chinese delegates in Anchorage?
Do you think the Trump administration might have a reason for meeting the Russians in Alaska?

"Anchorage was chosen as the city due to it being the mid-point between China and the United States, which acts as a refueling station between the two countries.Pang Zhongying—an international relations specialist at Nankai University—said that holding the meeting there, midway between Beijing and Washington, showed "goodwill", but that "it is already very difficult for the two sides to have this meeting just 50 days after Biden came into office"

Putin has put Ukraine through hell and he deserves to be a global pariah for the rest of his ******* life.

As for Ukraine, after all their suffering, I'd surely understand if they were willing to give up some territory to end this. But it sure is nice to see that most of them don't want to give up:

Vance in UK for high-stakes diplomacy day after Trump announces Putin meeting

Speaking from the White House on Friday, Trump suggested discussions to end the war could include "some swapping of territories," which Zelenskyy later swiftly rejected, saying Ukraine “will not give Russia any awards for what it has done” and that “Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier.”

Putin deserves nothing for what he has done, even if Trump does want to play footsie with him.

I am not excusing Putin for what he did. There. Now, let's see you condemn the Nato.
Definitely not. And now we're seeing why they know they have to protect themselves.

Putin has never made his goals and opinions a secret.

ALL of this is on Putin. This was and is HIS choice.

There is nothing to discuss. At this point in history we are the world's leader.

Why you argue that people dont want freedom is, crazy.

And that is what you want, authoritarian government.
You've been blinded. We are more of a multi-polar world than ever, Elektra.

I said nothing about people not wanting freedom. I am addressing the complacency that goes with this attitude you have.

Dear Nut In Frenzy,

I always enjoy your deep insight and your to the point replies such as "**** you" etc. but this above doesn't make sense to me.

Zelenski is a non player.
WTF?

Ukraine is one of the two countries at war numbnuts.
Cutting his free lunch will conclude the war in a very short time. He just needs to sit at the children's table and be quiet. It always surprised me how demanding he was when his whole existence is relying on "foreign aid." Apparently beggars can be choosers?

Just like your moronic dear leader.

Dec 30, 2023 — The intense, three-year arm-twisting campaign resulted in Ukraine's agreeing in 1994 to transfer all of its nuclear arsenal to Russia.

The Clinton administration basically continued Bush’s policies towards Russia and Ukraine. There was domestic pressure inside Ukraine for the nation to keep at least some of the nuclear arsenal as a form of deterrence against future Russian invasions. This was no idle fear — over the preceding century, Ukraine had been invaded by troops from Tsarist Russia, Bolshevik Russia, White or monarchist Russia, or the Soviet Union on at least seven occasions.

As of the earthquake? If I stretch my imagination, maybe I "understand" you are mad at Mr. Trump because he pissed into the opposition's punch bowl. But Mr. Putin? What did he do to you being so mad at him? Please, enlighten me.

I appreciate your consideration in this matter.
Normal people hate criminals and grifters, and Trump has over 50 years of experience.

Why do you embrace him?

We have it, it's been installed.
It's here and your blinded by BS.

I think he's saying that without the US, Ukraine is nothing. And he's right. If US withdrew all support, the war in Ukraine would end in like 3 hours.

But Putin's Russia is not the same as those things.

It didn't.

Jul 7, 2025 — Halted shipments of some American military aid to Ukraine could resume after a series of high-level meetings in Italy and Ukraine over the coming week.
But Putin's Russia is not the same as those things.
Russia has nothing to do with OUR commitments we made.

Of course Trump has broken every agreement he has ever signed .
So the ones he didn't sign, didn't stand much of a chance.

Trump has been a grifting scumbag, his entire life.

Agreed it was a guarantee

Do you not think we want the. Minerals?
It was not a guarantee. That article said “implied” which is not a guarantee. Don’t beleive me? Ask Trump,

Even now he wont say it. He’s now say “stand firmly”.

Wrong and implied guarantee is still a guarantee

Again you think we want to sign a deal and not ensure we get the benefit?

Have we not been trying to secure the country since we signed it? Heck haven’t we been even before there was one? Well other then during then during the Obama admin

Wrong. Trump held out military support until he felt he could leverage something from them, true. There is no downside for the US. We can pimp Ukraine until Russia comes marching through and we are not required to do anything. Ukraine knows they wont have to honor that understanding either as Trump is 3.5 years from being gone. Just like all of Trumps “deals” they are just words of understanding and unenforceable.

If we had security guarantees in place already like you say, we’d have soldiers and US marked gear there because Russia is still attacking. We don’t so we don’t. You aren’t this dense. At least I don’t think so.
