Zone1 Why is it so tough to believe in God?

Funny that none of the Jews of Jesus' day expected their messiah to die on a tree without freeing his people.
But those who did listen to him, and acted on it, were freed from the burden of the Law which is 'the death', a curse, for noncompliance, freed from the fear of death, freed from childhood Indoctrination, brainwashing, free to live life unfettered.

I suppose the closest thing to explaining what the authors meant by 'the death', a curse, would be insanity or under a delusion as many who do openly defy Divine Law exhibit this strange defiled state of consciousness.

Is it because:
  • Lack of belief we are lovable
  • Lack of belief we are cared for
  • Lack of belief God is an active agent in our lives
  • Lack of belief we have a reason for being
What blocks people from believing in God? Why is it so hard to believe?
The evil that is done by men in the name of god

That whole bunch of other people? With the Word of the Lord, they should be able not to "turn off" but to turn on and turn to the Lord. Jesus noted many people are like sheep without a shepherd--and he spoke of sheep in wolves' clothing. Run from the wolves and to that shepherd who has left the rest of his flock to find them. People of faith, who have their eyes on God and His ways/teachings, should be strong enough to overcome those whose purpose is to lord it over others. While I can sympathize with those who are turned off by such people, it's an extremely weak excuse/reason to turn from the Lord.
Omnipotence Creates Impotence

Christofascist excuse-making is like Communists who claim that Stalin ruined a perfect idea, or that the Russian people weren't fit for it. They believe so much in their impossible Utopia that they're sure it will someday work with the right people to run it—people like themselves, of course.

Same with those who believe in the ruling class's Constitution. Somehow unfit politicians always ruin it, but their own political heroes will make it work.

Have you considered the true "straw man argument" for not pursuing a relationship with God is the argument, "There is no physical evidence?"

I've said before that those who limit themselves to the physical world are the settlers. The explorers and pioneers are those who seek the spiritual that lies outside the boundaries of the physical. Settlers settler for what is familiar to them. Explorers and pioneers take an interest in the possibilities that lie beyond seas, mountains, and horizons.
A straw hallucination, then

We're not talking about evolution here.
We're talking creation.
Two different things.
Ahhh. Abiogenesis vs creation. The evidence for either is pretty scarce. There are theories about how abiogenesis might occur vs no theories about how creation might occur.

Now the OP asked about God with a capital 'G' but there is NO evidence linking a Creator with the God of Abraham. Sure He took credit but that is weak evidence to be sure.

1 in 10^164 odds of randomly assembling a DNA molecule. 1 in 10^41000 odds of randomly assembling a living cell. How many times have you won the lottery?

Again, ignore the math.
The funniest thing about this specious talking point is that you guys are all arguing a nonzero possibility that life exists without a creator.

I love irony. Especially when it's hilarious.

By the way, what you are doing is a well known ,crusty old fallacy. Hoyle's fallacy.

Post it. Show how these truly astronomical odds are overcome. I love science. Show how the environment on earth was stable long enough for proteins to randomly assemble trillions of DNA molecules. And while you're at it, show which came first, cells that needed DNA or DNA that needed cells to be useful?

It's not sufficient to just say, "It took a long time" when you're talking about a very unstable earth with constantly changing seasons, climate, and composition.
We don't know how abiogenesis occurred but I can guarantee DNA was not present. The first life was likely little more than self-replicating molecules.

It is the unsuitability of earth that was key to evolution. A stable earth might never have given rise to complex life.

Besides you, who else is freed from the burden of the Law which is 'the death', a curse, for noncompliance, freed from the fear of death, freed from childhood Indoctrination, brainwashing, free to live life unfettered?

Bingo. Evolution only works when there's already an organism. Creation deals with how organisms came to be in the first place. The simplest single-celled organism is incredibly complex.
Cells we know today likely took billions of years to evolve from simpler life forms.

The fact that abiogensis occured is as well proven as anything we know.

Once there was no life in the universe, then there was. Once there was no life on this planet, then there was.

Abiogenesis occured, and we can be as certain of that as we are certain that stars form.

Until a viable mechanism can be shown, and not just theorized, I would not say it is proven. I have no doubt it will be someday but not today.

Until a viable mechanism can be shown,

Selection is the mechanism. That was square one, for the scientists.

Abiogenesis is proven. Just as star formation is proven.

Once there was no star, then there was. Star formation happened.

Abiogenesis happened. We have already more than proven that it happened.

The incredible complexity of living creatures cannot be an accidental mixing of chemicals.

its not accidental -

evolution is a self made programed response over time for a predetermined outcome that reaches fruition before being implemented that in the most extreme examples can produce a new species from parent to offspring in a single instance which the offspring from then forward will produce the new species by its own reproduction.
