Nope. I'm not voting. If this is the two choices you give me, then I'm staying home. My way of being a patriot.

Thank you for underscoring the very real truth that campaign rhetoric on both sides often omits the fact that many campaign promises are contingent on Congress or state legislature or the city council passing the legislation for the President/Governor/Mayor to sign. It would be a very good thing if candidates included that particular caveat but at least here in America, it just isn't done that way.In close elections your vote may determine the outcome. We have heard that many times. However, the simple fact is that in this presidential election seven state will determine the presidency, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. So if you live in New York, California, Texas, or Florida or any of the other 43 states, should I bother to vote. The answer is absolutely YES.
The major reason you should vote is that state and local elections will most likely have a greater impact on your life than who ends up being president. Just because a president promises to build a great wall on our borders, sign a bill making abortion legal, or provide tax cuts for families and small businesses does not mean it's actually going to happen. Such promises will be tempered by congress, existing laws, other items on the president's agenda, the practicality of the action, and of course unforeseen event such national disasters, wars, terrorism, epidemics, etc. However when you vote for a new bond issue for schools, fire and ems services, hiring more police, or programs to bring in more businesses, these proposals will likely have a direct effect on the taxes you pay, services you receive, property values, and jobs. Many people in general elections just vote for president, and maybe the governor or mayor, and skip the other stuff because it take more time to research.
So regardless of what you think of the presidential candidates, you should vote and don't skip the local and state elections and propositions because they will effect you.

It's really pretty simple. People that lack the ability to vote have a greater motivation to go to the streets with weapons and destroy civil order. People that have a voice in their government and use it are more accepting of governance, obeying laws, participate in their community, and fighting for their country. This was made quite clear to the world in the French Revolution in 1789 when the people rose up against monarchy demanding the right to vote.I've never understood the conviction that everyone should vote. Uninformed idiots shouldn't vote. People who disagree with me shouldn't vote.
But most of you will, and you'll fuck it all up as usual.
Well, I wasn't talking about the ability to vote. Just the value of doing it if you're uninformed or disinterested. It's really pretty simple. Do you really believe Harris. She lies about anything Trump says. She’s a liar. She led a coup to overthrow Biden. She would hirer Liz Cheney the warmongering fake conservative. If Trump is elected, I have no idea what he will do because he's a loose cannon whose becoming more senile and refuses to take the advice of others. Harris says she will hire the most knowledge and capable people even though they do share her beliefs. She has even promised to appoint a republican to her cabinet. Harris has always made decisions based on the advice of others. Trump on the other hand says his administration will be people he can trust. He just needs the facts and will make decisions based on his intuitions
I serious doubt either candidate will make any significant lasting changes on America.

And yes, the congressional elections and the state/local elections are also very important and should not be taken casually.
But of all the many people on the ballot, ultimately our vote should be for how we want for our city, our state, our country:
And here you and I part company. I thought we were having a friendly and serious discussion but I guess not. But do have a pleasant evening.I prefer the British system in which the leader is selected by Parliament. American presidential campaigns are a disgrace. The current one is the worst I have ever seen and I have been watching and participating in them for over 60 years. I don't now if Trump will win the election but he will certainly win the race for making the most outrageous campaign promises and lies.
He is a loose cannon because he is unpredictable, irrational at times and makes promises he can not keep such as deporting 11 millions illegal immigrants. He says what his audience likes to hear never bothering with the truth.Do you really believe Harris. She lies about anything Trump says. She’s a liar. She led a coup to overthrow Biden. She would hirer Liz Cheney the warmongering fake conservative.
Why do you say Trump is a loose cannon. He followed through and kept his campaign promises last time. That’s why politicians and the media hate him. He does what he says he will do. Therefore, not a liar.
Ummmmmmmmmm, I don't think you understood the OP. There are also state and local races on the ballot as well as state amendments. You can ignore the presidential election and vote for those. And if you are just talking about the duopoly there are several other options besides democrat and republican.
If you vote then you caused the problem, so you can't complaint. My grandmother puts it like this:
"If you don't vote, you can't complain."
I read the list and most of them he either did or the Democrats in the Senate did not allow those things to happen. Obamacare at the top of the list. So stuff your list of false hoods. He is a loose cannon because he is unpredictable, irrational at times and makes promises he can not keep such as deporting 11 millions illegal immigrants. He says what his audience likes to hear never bothering with the truth.
This time around, he will promise you anything to get your vote and avoid jail time in his next 3 criminal trials; deport 11 million, Invade Mexico, Indict Biden, round up the homeless and the send the National Guard into the Cities, and the Army to the border; Yep, anything to stay out of jail.
And NO, he did not keep his campaign promises. Just look at a partial list of promises below that Trump made and broke in his last term.

Yep. Only reason I'm voting is because ranked choice voting is on the ballot in my state.I'm in Oregon, which is a lost cause state, Kumalla will get all the marbles.
I will vote of course since there are a multitude of other issues.
