Why I'm a Democrat now

THOUGHTS FROM AN INDEPENDENT

I voted for George H.W. Bush in 1988, Bob Dole in 1996, and George W Bush in 2000 - All Republicans. NO MORE! I'm a Democrat now. Conservatives used to care about paying down our national debt, supporting our troops, and our European allies against threats from Communism. Today the party of Trump cares little about any of these, instead focusing on abusing little children on our southern border, sucking up to dictators from Russia, North Korea, and Turkey, and dividing this country as deeply as the days of the civil war.

I didn't agree with everything President Obama did, but America didn't turn into a socialist hellhole, nor did the economy crash on his watch as so many on the right wing predicted. This is the last post I'll do here, claiming I'm an Independent.

Sorry Trump supporters: You lost me - Goodby! :bye1:
Many other Americans have seen, and are seeing, the light. It will lead to a MASSIVE defeat for the incumbent in November.

Thanks for sharing.

First of all both parties incur debt. If you are choosing a party based upon debt then the choice is neither. The only good thing you can say about debt is that usually Republicans get a better economy with their debt than Democrats.

Second of all maybe that asshole Obama didn't turn this country into a Socialist shithole but it wasn't for the lack of trying. The Republican House and later Senate stopped him from doing the damage he wanted to do.

What Obama did do was increase poverty, decrease family income, run up $10 trillion in debt, run up the cost of heath care, weaken the military, increase taxes, gave away the store with foreign policy and had dismal economic growth.

As far as the difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans are always better than the Democrats. That is indisputable. However, "better" is a very relative term and doesn't mean much. A million times better than zero is still pretty much zero.

Democrats promise bad government and will always deliver on bad government.

The Republicans promise good government but at the end of the day usually deliver about the same bad government as we would have got had the Democrats been elected.

Most of the time the difference is minimal. They are both the party of big government and supporters of the welfare state.

I am a Conservative but don't consider myself a Republican because at the end of the day Republicans are nothing more than Democrat Light. Republicans at best are only the lesser of two evils.

You're not wrong. I tend to vote Republican because they, unlike the Democrats, aren't actively pursuing policies that will damage the US; they just appear to be too dickless - as a group - to fight against them. They literally are the lesser of two evils: passive evil, instead of active evil.

That's not too different from my story. I was once a Republican and now consider myself Independent. The republican's never delivered on their claims of being fiscally responsible. Now they just follow trumps failed policy. I expect many will see the increased debt, failed policy, riots, lack of leadership.... and move on too.
So you believe Democrats are fiscally responsible?

That's how we know you're a fraud.
No, but they are more responsible than trump. Trump has drastically increased deficits.

Responsible? As in fiscally responsible? The only way we’re going to shave down the deficits/debt is if we have a conservative government.Tge Democrats will be just like Trump and quite frankly worse. At least Trump spends on the military. If I’m going to overspend that’s what I want to overspend on.
Yeah screw the infrastructure Who needs it??? We probably spend more on our military that the rest of the world does ,combined

Much of the Western world gets away with spending so little on their own militaries primarily because the US provides their defense for them.

And how much of the "infrastructure" is actually the responsibility of the federal government, anyway? Do you even know, or do you just ASSume everything should be handled by a big, centralized national government?
So with most states in the red the Govt turns a blind eye to infrastructure ? To hell with the citizens

Did that post make some sort of sense to you? Because in English, it made none at all. What the hell are you gabbling about?

I agree. I was and still am a registered Republican for all my life but for 6 months when I switched to Democrat for vote for Obama in the 2008 primary.

I voted for Nixon, Ford, Reagan (once), HW Bush twice. Bob Dole - my last vote for a Republican for President. I never voted for Bill Clinton, GW Bush. I voted for Obama twice. I certainly never did or never will vote for Trump.

The Republican Party sold out its members with George W Bush & then sold its soul with Donald Trump. I will never ever vote again for any Republican running for the US House or Senate or the State House or Senate.

Republicans have become a party geared towrd the White Supremacists, racists & bigots. You sit there as Trump says the worsa things & say nothing.

FUCK all Republicans that support Trump. Your hate for America is well noted.

.
You have never voted Republican, douchebag.

You aren't fooling anyone.

I laugh at you when you think all Republicans would still vote for your fat assed orange buddy. Not all of them are as stupid as you.
I have to laugh when you claim to know what Republicans think.

I have to laugh when he claims to have any relation to thinking at all.

Trump Republicans don 't think. They just do what their fat assed orange master says.

Why do I sincerely doubt that any Republican, Trump supporter or otherwise, would talk to you? You continue to babble at us about what you imagine to be reality, and it continues to be of as little value as you are.

if you were an independent you would have problems with both parties..........

I am an Independent as I see that both parties have problems, but lefticrats (democrats) are full of shit these days with their burning, looting, statues toppling, flag burning America hating and murder.

It is far safer to live in a Republican dominated city than in a leftist city.

I am glad I am in the middle of a conservative oasis where even the few Blacks in the area are relaxed and happy.
You are independent? That's a good one.

I am an independent, didn't vote for McCain, Trump the last two elections, voted for Romney (quasi liberal) have not voted for an actual republican in the last 12 years.

Meanwhile you haven't made a single cogent comment in the thread, just drive by one liners.

I would respectfully disagree.

I have yet to find a Republican other than maybe a Ron Paul that would advocate a significant (50% or more) reduction in the size of the Federal government or even advocate stopping all forms of welfare and entitlements.

Like I said, they promise good government when they are trying to get our Conservative vote but when they get to Washington they vote for increased Federal budgets, debt, the continuance of all the disastrous entitlement programs and give us much of what the Democrats would have given us.

Democrat Light all day long.

Right wingers are in every state, and they all think the same, masks are an infringement on their right to make other people sick, therefore the virus is going to spread in every state regardless of being blue or red. The only variable will be population density. The less dense, the less spread. Many red states are low population because nobody wants to live there for various reasons ..... boring, nothing to do, no jobs, shitty weather.

Now take a look at Florida, a red state with lots of people. COVID is running wild there now. It has come within a hair of NY's record for new cases in one day. It's a case of right wingers demanding their Constitutional right to get sick as well as sicken others. And they've got lots of old people. FL's hospitals are likely to overflow and max out, and lots of people die at home. It'll probably eclipse NY's totals as well as most countries.

Of course FL might not be a red state if the Repubs there allowed blacks to vote.

But FL has nothing on AZ, another red state protecting its 'spread the virus' right. AZ has far more cases per capita than FL, and will eventually have the highest in the nation. They're doing an excellent job of protecting their right to be sick and die.
Republicans are ruining America. Vote Biden
What happens when all healthy citizens get the virus?
Hopefully we never have to find out
So lets slow roll this Kung Flu virus around for the next 3 to 5 years? You are such stupid worthless fucks...
Maybe a year stupid Slow and easy is the only way to go Businesses need to get street traffic back into stores and with virus going up instead of down that will take time But Trump ass kissers don't know that They think trump is smart Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha
eddie what about all those people who running out of money to buy things?....whats your plan for them?
Think they're planning for another handout Only this time instead of giving the bucks to the millionaire businesses they give it to those who really need it
So you believe the people "who really need it" are going to be better off with a handout rather than a job?
Jobs are better BUT when will all those millions be back on the work force?

Depends on how long the dipshit leftists are planning to fight reopening the economy.
If the economy reopens full bore, the pandemic will surely spread mercilessly throughout our society. You are not blind to what is happening with our ill-advised partial reopening, yes? Sick people won't go to work or go out to play, businesses will have large layoffs, many will close or be too weak to function properly, and the economy will sink into depression. The jobless rate will skyrocket. This is not a "lefty" error to stay closed, and it is another Trump foible to open this economy under these dire circumstances. The bank where my wife works had to close some branches due to the possibility of the virus spreading and lack of employees who were either sick or scared. All small businesses are faced with the same problem. What to do? Do they open anyway which is the suicide approach? Blame yourself for going out when you should have remained in. No masks, no social distancing, crowded restaurants, bars, and
beaches. THIMK!!
Some countries have reduced the effect of the virus by LISTENING. Others, like us, once again have fallen by the wayside because Trump knows more than the medical and scientific experts.

No, politicians rarely advocate for a reduction of their power, and government spending = political power. Be that as it may, Republicans as a rule don't actively demand policies that are disastrous for America on the face of it, the way Democrats do.

Again, I disagree. Republicans talk smaller government but they always enact bigger government.

They run on a platform to do better than the filthy ass Democrats but when it is time to vote they seem far too many times to support the Democrats.

For instance, Republicans allowed Obama's tax increases and Republicans allowed Trump's 2017, 2018 and 2019 deficits.

If your augment is that Democrats are turds and that Republicans are better then I would agree with you. However, being better just by itself ain't good enough.

Go look at Ron Paul's 2012 Restore America budget proposal to cut a trillion dollars out of the Federal government while still increasing defense spending and maintaining Social Security and many other necessary government program as what Republicans could do if they had any courage.

:bye1:

Again, you're disagreeing with something I didn't say, because you want to monologue about your favorite topic.

With your SB McConnell leading the senate ,,with kiss asses Pence and Pompeo and the worst Presidents ever you call that better ? A repub senate too chicken shit to open their mouths to King Trump?

So your standard has nothing to do with what's actually right and wrong, it's just about who gets in Trump's face? Get some therapy.

LOL Trump is the worst
NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump’s niece offered a devastating portrayal of him in a book that credits a “perfect storm of catastrophes" for exposing the president at his worst.

Mary L. Trump, a psychologist, writes that the coronavirus pandemic, the possibility of an economic depression and deepening social divides have brought out the “worst effects" of Donald Trump's pathologies, which were less evident when the country had a stable economy and the lack of serious crises.

Those factors, along with “Donald's penchant for division, and uncertainty about our country's future have created a perfect storm of catastophes that no one is less equipped than my uncle to manage," she writes.

The president’s brother Robert tried to bar publication of the book. Early copies of the book, slated for publication next week, became available on Tuesday. It is titled: “Too Much and Never Enough, How My Family Created The World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

A ruling briefly blocking its publication was lifted last week by a New York state appellate judge

A ruling briefly blocking its publication was lifted last week by a New York state appellate judge
Mary Trump is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., the president’s elder brother, who died in 1981. She has a doctorate in psychology.

Robert Trump had argued in legal papers that Mary Trump was subject to a 20-year-old agreement between family members that no one would publish accounts involving the core family members without their approval.

Simon & Schuster said it did not know about any alleged family agreement until a few weeks ago and was not a part of any deal. It said that 75,000 first-run editions had already been sent to bookstores.

In the book, Mary Trump writes that current challenges have weakened the president's usual tools for shielding himself from blame.

“His ability to control unfavorable situations by lying, spinning, and obfuscating has diminished to the point of impotence in the midst of the tragedies we are currently facing,” she said.

“His egregious and arguably intentional mishandling of the current catastrophe has led to a level of pushback and scrutiny that he's never experienced before, increasing his belligerence and need for petty revenge as he withholds vital funding, personal protective equipment, and ventilators that your tax dollars have paid for from states whose governors don't kiss his ass sufficiently," Mary Trump wrote.

The White House declined to comment.
