How exactly is defending a man who has a presumption of innocence, in a fact pattern that supports that presumption, a sign of being afraid? How exactly is defending someone who evil men are putting a hit out on a sign of fear instead of courage? Ill defend with my life someone from being murdered by a mob. I'll defend with my life the rights of others to be presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If you think that's at all cowardly, then you aren't in touch with reality?

How is Rush, a talk show host, evidence of being easily led? And why exactly do you think it's some inherently bad thing to follow a leader? You follow Obama don't you? Don't you think that's good? If not, why are you doing it?

Rush has the freedom to say what he did. He said something inappropriate. He apologized. He's human. If you think we should silence someone merely because they say something wrong or inappropriate, then you are severely misguided, because we don't have free speech to protect just the speech we like, but the speech that's controversial and that people might not like. Why are you so threatened by Rush?

You think telling people they have a right to forceably take money from others for their own health care is good, while those who think they should take care of themselves are greedy? I think you have it completely backwards.

It's intolerant to opposite gay marriage? I suppose that depends on your viewpoint. But it also relies on the assumption that being intolerant is always bad. I dont think that's necessarily true. Should we be tolerant of pedophilia? I don't particular thing so. But if we extend your current argument outward, you would say we should.

The argument really isn't who is intolerant and who isn't. The issue is where do we draw the line at what behavior we should tolerate and what behavior we shouldn't Because there is always going to be some behavior we don't tolerate unless you are a depraved sociopath. I won't tolerate murder, for example. I sincerely hope that you agree.

However, I don't even think gay marriage is an issue of tolerance. It's merely a question on whether we want to legally redefined a word that has existed for thousands years on a political whim. In the United States, individuals have always been able to enter into any contractual/covenant relationship they want, for whatever purposes they want. But the Government does not have to recognize those contractual relationships as legally binding, particular if there is no benefit to society to do so.

Personally, I dont think definitions to words are something we can vote on. Nor do I think unelected judges should be able to force policies on us.

Nor do I see what's bigotted about Muslims existing. They are free to worship as they choose. I wish the Islamic countries would give us the same courtesy. I don't see why you think we need to agree with everything they do to live in harmony with them.

While its certainly been the accepted form here in the United States, the definition of marriage as the union between ONE man and ONE woman is not the only definition over the last thousand years. You are forgeting polygamous marriages in multiple cultures and the same sex marriages of Nero emporer of Rome and evidence of same sex unions goes back to Mesopatamia and Ancient Egypt.

There does not need to be a benefit to society to protect the rights of the individual. Denying same sex couples the same rights and priviledges as opposite sex couples is unconstitutional.

It’s not an issue at all, since there’s no such thing as ‘gay marriage,’ nor does anyone wish to contrive such a thing.

The 14th Amendment is hardly a ‘political whim.’ It admonishes the states to allow all citizens equal access to the law, including marriage law.

In the United States, individuals have always been able to enter into any contractual/covenant relationship they want, for whatever purposes they want.

Except for marriage, hence the Constitutional violation.

But the Government does not have to recognize those contractual relationships as legally binding, particular if there is no benefit to society to do so.

The government may only disallow a particular class of persons access to a given law if the government can provide a compelling reason to do so and provide evidence in support. Such a rationale and evidence do not exist with regard to excluding same-sex couples access to marriage laws.
