I've long been in awe of the power of ideology. I've done a lot of reading on the subconscious, and how it can be manipulated and molded into making a person truly believe things that are simply not reasonable or rational.

This is why these people are so serious and emotional. They believe, at even a subconscious level, that they are at war, even if someone is not at war with them. They're not playing talk radio here.
