Why don't you want to tax the rich?

It is not about math

Your stupid premise is that the government needs all the money it spends. We can have the same government but much smaller
Ok
What would you like to cut?

We need the right sized government that provides the services that We the People demand
That's democracy and mob rule. We have a Republic in which representatives are elected to represent the best interests of the people and that's not always what the mob wants in the moment.

Nice try Skippy

Those representatives have to provide what We the People want or get voted out.

That's up to the elected representatives....Not individuals...
You talk the talk but when pressed you have no idea what you are talking about

And, like I've said, the country would slide inevitably into bankruptcy, hyper-inflation, and all those nasty things, followed by violent revolution and the cycle starts all over again, the voters having learned nothing.

got a hint for ya Norton, just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean that they don't know what they are talking about...It just means that you're a closed minded moron.

Which defines your response perfectly talk and no ideas
I have provided my ideas
You make broad statements about cutting the scope of government but have no clue about what you want cut

Very true

Now, tell us what you are talking about and specifically what you want changed

Not necessarily. Not if the We the People* want is something that's not authorized by the Constitution. But I know you have no use for that "piece of paper".

* In modern usage this refers to the majority of the people - as opposed to ALL of the people. Usually used by populists as a justification for ******* over those in the minority.

There is a reason why the writers of the Constitution put in place super majority requirements for some things, because they knew all too well the allure of the moment for mobs and wanted reflection and a high level of consensus for very fundamental things.

Some would do away with that and demand mob rule, complete with flash opinion polls driving every law change.

I'd love to see a supermajority requirement for everything Congress does. We need to get back to government by consensus. As it is we thrash back and forth between two shitty parties trying to slam through whatever they can on a party line vote with a slim majority and no real consensus.

If you don’t think it is authorized in the Constitution, take it to the Supreme Court

Bitching on a message board doesn’t count

Only thing a super majority is called for is impeachment

For government to have the kind of total control over society that you're after, you'll basically need to re-write the Constitution.

Bitching on a message board doesn't count.

No they do not

They only have to provide what their voting base wants which may in fact be out of step with everyone else and usually is
