Why don't you want to tax the rich?

Before the pandemic when we were talking about raising the minimum wage, you guys said the same thing. Now the starting rate for a lot of "flipping burger" jobs is $13 an hour. Prices rose with it but the businesses you guys swore would close up and go out of business never happened.

I doubt I said much? But, Depending on the area they are dropping like flies. OAK is down to zero. CA is losing. SF? Lol!

Someone forgot to tell these locations...they're still open.

As long as the top tax rate never got below 70% and was often much higher the national debt was not a problem. It only became a problem with Republican tax cuts for the rich.

Most Americans have not benefited from tax cuts for the rich. As the rich keep getting richer real income for most Americans stagnates or declines,
Why do we need to spend twice what anyone else spends?

If those making those sums are 'aggressively taxed' what makes you think these gov't thieves won't aggressively tax you next? I like the idea of no income tax. Tax on consumption. Then the taxpayer has the choice of whether or not they will pay the tax or produce for themselves.
A tax on "consumption"? You mean like the tariffs that lunatic Trump saddled consumers with?

It seems like you like to state the obvious. Still you do miss the point

Why move from your mansion in one state to another

State Tax breaks would be a motive.

what does " he change his residence to FL mean to you. If you change your residence then the next step if you want to vote is register in the state you maintain a residence in order to vote

Your the one who is stating the obvious.

He changed his residence for tax purposes

Florida vs Washington Taxes: Income, Property & Sales 2026

FloridaWashington
Income Tax Rates & ThresholdsNone7.0% on capital gains income only
Median Income$65,370$89,430
Income Tax Paid On Median Household Income$7,149$12,442
Income After Tax Based on Median Household Income$58,221$76,988
Yes looking at the numbers, for tax purposes it would be prudent to move and still live in a mansion in another state.

He moved and you cannot explain why would he move. Tax breaks would be one reason. Just looking at the scale he would make the same amount of money but pay less taxes in one state.

Florida has better weather than Washington.

Pay attention to the graph as tax are less in one state.

More people and better oppertunities to increase you wealth.

Florida VS Washington ( the state)

it is not hard to see the difference
Paraphrasing what I said in my POST #7, is restating the obvious.

No. Not really. I simply acknowledge taxes owed to support the country we live in, as being a taxpayer all my life, and not whining over taxes paid. Still I recognize the supposed progress tax code is filled with coded set asides, for the highest income earners, not easily available to 70 to 90% of the taxpayers of the country. For those in the lowest bracket, basically paying very little, I do not advocate for greater tax rebates on money they did not pay in during the year. I would like to see greater fiscal responsibility in how the money is spent, but that, like the tax code itself is in the hands of our "elected" representatives, along with a host of lobbyists and political appointees, writing code to benefit political benefactors. I do not expect to see much change on either front.

What about you? You like everything in the tax codes, so complicated highly skilled lawyers, make very good livings, to find the best loopholes, only available to the ones that can pay them to hunt them down, or lobby other tax lawyers with whatever administration is in office at the moment to have them created, in bills too long for elected representatives to even read before voting them up or down?

Is there anything you would change in the tax code?
Definitely I would change it to a sales tax. Primarily to spread taxes to those who find them fine, so they assume a burden in line with their uses of the Feds. Yes, it might cost me too. At least on sales taxes there is no Federal snooping into our incomes.

Complain about what?
I am simply referring to non-taxed company perks in lieu of salary, be it cars or stocks, buying personal items at corporate or business expense, so expenditure taxed at lower rates, with even more offsets. I am not that thrilled with income averaging, instead of yearly on what is made in a given year, 1031 exchanges to reinvest, shifting income to children through limited family partnership, IRC §1202 exemption that can let you exclude 100% of capital gains on sale of stocks and the tax that goes with it. Legal and approved? Sure, but 90% of Americans do not get the benefits. And, I am pretty sure there are some missed, if you have a good tax man. Of course, most average Americans do their own, and or, take the standard deduction, file and don't look back.
Tax code is designed to manifest and foster ambition and success…You don’t think we should find clever ways to incentivize Americans?

Potential incomes for workers can't be paid. Workers are harmed when firms pay obscene taxes.
When we slashed taxes on those firms they didn’t share with the workers

They kept it
