Unrealized gains are not taxed in the U.S.
35 and we have a dealLet’s go with 50 percent of income above 1 million
You have no idea what that means, good sir.No
It is called contributing to a society
Why is that fair?Let’s go with 50 percent of income above 1 million

Since "fair" cannot be exactly defined, it is open to personal interpretationWhy is that fair?
Welcome to History 101.Darkwind No. But there is a lot of social frustration out there. A lot of people feel the rich are getting richer at the expense of the poor.
Brilliant!Welcome to History 101.
Young people today have not been taught work ethic and self reliance, rather, they have been instilled with a sense of entitlement.
As a result, they covet the wealth and property of others without understanding that those are things they must earn themselves.
A generation of kids raised with a sense of entitlement, is going to result in that generation growing into weak, dysfunctional adults - which is what we have today.
Not what I said but yes I dorightwinger wants to tax wealth. Thats' what was being argued.
Umm no...fair can be defined. Here is an example: If I pay 10% tax...on every dollar earned regardless of how it's earned, you pay 10% tax on every dollar regardless of how it's earned.Since "fair" cannot be exactly defined, it is open to personal interpretation
Actually our society benefits the wealthy much more than the working class
Schools, infrastructure, transportation, the military all serve the interests of the wealth

BActually, the wealth generators have already paid for THAT and you people are demanding more to cover for your irresponsible spending on top of that.

Not what I said but yes I do
You can’t really tax wealth but you can tax when it is moved
Every generation has said that about the next generationWelcome to History 101.

What you deem "fair" might not be "fair" for someone else.Umm no...fair can be defined. Here is an example: If I pay 10% tax...on every dollar earned regardless of how it's earned, you pay 10% tax on every dollar regardless of how it's earned.
Already said fine, do it. Make theTop three brackets 40, 50, 60. It won't make a difference on collected revenue but for immediate sugar rush.
Then incomes will drop, GDP will drop and collected revenue will drop. It will settle out at revenue = 20%*GDP. Money will move.
Go ahead. Had 12 years Obiden and you did nothing. Now you chirp?
I said a rising portfolio increases wealthBS. You said a portfolio increases in wealth. You implied you wanted to tax that. But if they don't withdraw? Then what.
As long as the top tax rate never got below 70% and was often much higher the national debt was not a problem. It only became a problem with Republican tax cuts for the rich. Not sure if Mr Stockman is aware but large amounts of spending cause deficits just as easily as not taking in as much revenue. Since the US generates double the amount of tax revenue than any other country in the world, I think he might be full of shit....
Everyone paying the same would be most person's definition of fair. What you deem "fair" might not be "fair" for someone else.
Perfectly fair. However at some point the tax has to be enough to fund the government. A flat tax will not do it.I personally favor a flat tax.
You beat me to it. The elders said the exact same thing about him; "Back in my day, I didn't have time to sit on the internet and ***** about the world"Every generation has said that about the next generation
You should have heard what they said about the hippies
