Look up the genocide over Biafra and Ogoniland,
the execution of Ken Sarowiwa without a trial,
and the settlement with Dutch Shell for $5 million to his family
who sued over collusion with corrupt Nigerian officials.
Totally tragic.
In honor of Sarowiwa I wanted to start a restitution program where all participating citizens sign an agreement to pay $5 million to survivors for any conviction of premeditated murder, and see if that has an impact on reducing and deterring crime. If $5 million is all his family received, why not advertise that by making it the norm for all cases of premeditated murder?
Imagine if all victims of war crimes or other violent crimes and rape received $1 million, $5 million or a lifetime of restitution from the perpetrators:
wouldn't all wrongdoers be busy filling up work camps and factories, in place of enslaving women and children in sweatshops and sex trafficking?
If we ever organized a worldwide call for restitution, maybe we could pay for more women and children to be in school, while the men convicted of acts of crime, war and abuse would be working their jobs to pay the costs to society.
