Zone1 Why does the Bible seem so misogynistic?

The 'serpent' was within Eve and part of Eve just as Satan was within Peter. That why God directed his words to both, but only Eve had the ability to eat dust and give birth as described ("go on your belly").
People have the ability to do good or evil. Nothing new there. Even King David, "a man after God's own heart", still stole a close friend's wife and had him killed.

It doesn't mean that you are "good" or "Bad"....

What matters is if you are forgiven or not.

From the Genesis to Proverbs to Paul statements critical of women abound. Thoughts?
Why do you feel this way? I see a lot of great things mentioned concerning women. The Priesthood is for men and Motherhood is for Women. Both are great and both are needed. Even Jesus said great things about women like his mother and his wife, the other Mary.

Misogyny in the Bible has been recognized since it was printed for all to read and study. My question is, why this is so.

People mistake the Bible recording with the Bible promoting.

The Bible records a lot of shady dealing. What the Bible promotes is different.

I would also say that being your own church and advisor is not the best idea, and this is why. Part of Christianity is about "coming under authority". If you yourself will not come under authority, it's very hard to understand the structure of God's Kingdom, the church, etc.

Good points! People want to promote today’s beliefs and morals to the truth of the Bible times. Just plain dumb.

Well, to be fair, the truth never changes. Nor do basic morals. But cultural knowledge and responses to them surely DOES change, and we see this throughout the Bible. To me it's more evidence that the Bible is a true account.

There are a number of prominent women in the bible. And if you read Proverbs 31, which is known for describing an excellent woman.... she is an entrepreneur, business woman, philanthropist, in addition to taking care of the house and being a devoted wife and mom. Doesn't sound misogynistic to me. :dunno:

But something that is very interesting to me... which I never hear people talk about... is that in the bible, the stuff that some people consider sexist came AFTER the fall of man, as a result of sin entering the world. I'm talking about things like Genesis 3:16.

So that leads me to think that in the pre-fall world, which was God's ideal, men and women were on equal standing.

And that also goes along with Galatians 3:28 which says:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Are you saying we should all become Catholics, who are spoon fed Biblical meanings and dare not question? My Bible (KJV) says "study, to show yourself approved....".

We study because what we're told by others may not be entirely true. ;)

I edited that post. Please reread it. But to your question just google "Misogyny in the Bible". Lots of examples. My question is, is there a legitimate reason?

It may seem that way to you but it's not. You are viewing it from the lens of today. I consider the accounts of the women of the OT to be remarkable IN THE CONTEXT OF THEIR DAY.

Because you're reading a book written thousands of years ago when women were considered the property of their fathers and husbands. Back then patriarchy existed on steroids.

Yet Paul had to remind us that "the woman was in the transgression" and suggested that that attitude still existed. Even Jesus had to rebuke his own mother.

Give me one specific. I can't go by Google Bible. You made the claim, so please give an example

The claim of misogyny has been made since the Bible was published.
