Why do we pay actors so much?

Why as Americans do we feel actors deserve so much money? I honestly have more respect for the police, firefighters, the military, lawyers, congressmen, senators, etc.

I get very disqusted with the movie theatre, everytime I go I cant stop to think why I believe a portion of the money I paid for this movie ticket should go to the people I hate the most in life, the rich. I should stop and so should many Americans in protest going to movie theatres, without fans together we can really screw over hollywood. A way to get our revenge on all those rich actors for being so rich. If your a socialist like I am your a hypocrite by going to the movies and financially supporting the rich vermin scum.

Yet we as Americans seem to support financially those we hate most in life, the rich. We support them by going to see movies. I have never met a movie actor in my life and I could care less about their autograph, to me they represent everything I hate; greed, wealth, individualism, capitalism.

If it were up to me I would tax the living shit out of them to the point they would have to settle for a 250,000 house and a Ford. If ever socialism takes over in America a great way to get even with the rich would be to tax the living crap out of them, taking 90% of hollywood actors incomes and redistributing it to the populus.

A.O.C. -- is that you?

You have respect for lawyers and congressman? WTF???

That being said, EVERY SINGLE PERSON you named is a net loss on society. They are all leeches except the lawyers. They are all paid with taxpayer dollars. Actors, on the other hand, aid in producing moves that MAKE hundreds of millions of dollars for the industry. Same thing with sports players. Why do they make millions? Because they bring in BILLIONS.

There is a HUGE difference between seeders and leechers.

Private enterprise.

The studio owners pay them what they think they are worth.

Often, they are wrong.
Movie making is risky buisness for sure. Do they make the wrong moves,oh hell yes. Money to be made though and the execs would not spend that money if they did not feel it was thier best option of being successfull. Same types of mistakes trying to figure tanlent on athletes. Big bucks are spent and some times do not work out.

The situation about outrageous salaries of actors is much the same as that other entertainment field, that of sports. Here is an explanation from years ago that might educate as well as entertain...

Movies make hundreds of millions of dollars, sports franchises are worth billions

The idea that those who attract the dollars get some is not that hard to accept

And what about the movies that lose millions?

What about them? Are you only paid if the company you work for nets a profit at the end of the year?

We don’t pay the actors, we pay the owners of the theater.

What they do with the money is their business.

The Irishman was awful and Deniro sucked. Only one worth watching in that flick was Pesci and Pacino. And even then....I wouldn't pay to see it at the movies mostly due to Deniro. I can't stand him.

We? You got a mouse in your pocket?

“We” don’t pay actors a single penny.

The Democrats have controlled the Budget, spending, purse strings, the economy since the last election, and despite the record-setting amount of tax revenue the govt collected due to the Trump Tax Cuts the deficit has increased, and we still have no actual BUDGET.

Now that the Democrats have accomplished their goal of Impeaching the President, a goal established 5 minutes after Trump took the oath of office, will they FINALLY get on with doing their job and what they were actually elected to do, like creating and passing an actual Budget, reducing the out-of-control government spending, etc...?
Another ignorant post from the forum simpleton who doesn’t know how Congress works.

Movies make money. Those involved in making it should get a share of the profits.

So if I get paid to do a job and the company / endeavor does extremely well I should get a share of the profits, not just get paid a salary?!

Interesting....is McDonalds sharing the profits or just paying a minimum wage to the 'fry guy'?

If actors negotiate for a share of the profits of a movie, not just a salary, and if Hollywood agrees, and if the movie does extremely well, good for them. They are the exception, not the rule.
The forum simpleton doesn’t know that actors aren’t employees, they’re independent contractors.

Why is this in politics?

I guess to make a point. Why do leftists complain about what companies or CEO's make, but not people in the entertainment world? If a person spends years in college, even more years climbing up the ladder, and finally lands themselves a 5 million dollar a year CEO job, they are demonized by the left. However if somebody throws a great football around and makes even more than that CEO, the left has no problem with that. They bring in the money, so they should get a good share of it.
Because CEOs are mostly compensated by a vote from a board of directors. And according to Republicans in 2019, being on a board of directors equals corruption.

Easy solution. Don't go see movies.

That's the solution? What's wrong with you, are you becoming Republican or something?
What are you talking about? We Democrats always vote with our feet.
...which triggers Republicans into throwing their money at whatever we boycott. It’s hilarious how easy it is to manipulate them. See also: Chick Fil a.

.....Or is Nancy going to hold onto the Articles of Impeachment, keep the House focused on their part in Impeachment - which is now for the most part, over, and keep undermining the most successful President in the last 50 years - in some cases EVER, and keep dividing the country?
Trump already divided the country between patriotic Americans and Trump supporters.

You don't speak for "we Republicans," Jack.

Sure I will, why shouldn't I?

Because you don’t.

How would you know? You're no Republican.

I’m a real, adult Republican. You’re just a bigot who wants to wear team colors.

Yeah, you're an adult Republican. That's why you constantly argue with real Republicans all the time.
Define “real Republican”.
