Why do we pay actors so much?

Going with the left wing/democrat party desire to limit CEO pay by government FIAT.....I suggest that actors be allowed to make 50,000 dollars a movie....and that is it..... If they want to support socialism in their voting activity, I say we give it to them....... see how they like it....

Why as Americans do we feel actors deserve so much money? I honestly have more respect for the police, firefighters, the military, lawyers, congressmen, senators, etc.

I get very disqusted with the movie theatre, everytime I go I cant stop to think why I believe a portion of the money I paid for this movie ticket should go to the people I hate the most in life, the rich. I should stop and so should many Americans in protest going to movie theatres, without fans together we can really screw over hollywood. A way to get our revenge on all those rich actors for being so rich. If your a socialist like I am your a hypocrite by going to the movies and financially supporting the rich vermin scum.

Yet we as Americans seem to support financially those we hate most in life, the rich. We support them by going to see movies. I have never met a movie actor in my life and I could care less about their autograph, to me they represent everything I hate; greed, wealth, individualism, capitalism.

If it were up to me I would tax the living shit out of them to the point they would have to settle for a 250,000 house and a Ford. If ever socialism takes over in America a great way to get even with the rich would be to tax the living crap out of them, taking 90% of hollywood actors incomes and redistributing it to the populus.

While I agree greed is bad, I don't necessarily think it applies to this situation. Being paid tons of money, does not automatically mean you are greedy. What if they are simply being paid what their job is worth?

Say you have a job, whatever job it is, and that job pays you $25K a year. Now say that you are promoted to a new job, and the new job pays $50,000 a year. Are you greedy now? You could live on $25,000, and we know that because you were living on $25,000. Why is taking so much more money, not greedy?

And if taking a new job that doubles your pay, is not greedy.... when does it magically become greedy? If you take a new position, and double your income again, are you not just being paid more, because you are doing a job that pays more?

And what is wrong with wealth? Or what is wrong with individualism? And of course, what is wrong with capitalism?

You realize that absolutely nothing in this society would exist, without all those things?

Movies make money. Those involved in making it should get a share of the profits.

But why does one actor get paid millions, and the movie extra gets $100 bucks?

I'll give you the answer. Because the main characters, and the quality of the acting, determine whether the movie loses money, or brings in $1.2 Billion like Captain Marvel.

This is why a CEO gets paid big money, because a bad CEO can crash a company like Apple Computer in the 1990s, and a good CEO can quadruple the company value, like Steve Jobs in the 2000.

I don't care what anybody else does. That's a Democrat thing. I just care about what I do. Most of my time is spent on the internet where I can interact with other people and watch things I like to watch. Millions of people watch the NFL games. Great, watch them, I just won't watch them. Maybe when enough people like me quit watching, they will be smart enough to get their politics out of their programming.

I don't watch movies, shows or bands for politics. If I want politics, I'll come here or go on Facebook. Seems like more and more people are thinking my way. I understand these award shows keep losing audience all the time. We're sick of it already.
Ask the Dixie Chicks how much their politics cost them.
Ask the NFL about lost revenue.
You're spot on.

There's a difference though.

When I watch a movie, I don't see the actors, or their politics. They are in character, in a fictional world. Right? And you sort of tune out of reality, and suspend disbelief, and get into a story.

With the NFL, they were breaking down that tuning out, by engaging in politics IN THE GAME.... They were intentionally making an issue of it in the game. It broke the disconnect, and prevented you from tuning out of the world, to just enjoy a football game.

So naturally, because they were breaking the entire value of watching sports, it cost them. Dearly. I remember that thanksgiving, when this whole thing blew up, it was the first thanks giving in my 40 years of life, that we didn't have football on the TV.

Same thing with the Dixie Chicks. They made those comments ON STAGE... during concerts. Then they repeated statements like that on TV in the media. I remember watching them talking to some media idiot, I can't remember who, and they were up there "We have an opinion, and..." Blaw blaw blaw.... they kept it up.

People do not go to concerts to be lectured out about politics. They want to just enjoy a concert.

Now if the movie nimrods, were putting 30-second sound bites from Robert De Niro saying "Trump is an idiot, and we need to ban all guns, and ban oil!".

If they were putting political statements before the movies started, then you would see a similar massive backlash against the movie industry.

The question isn't "why do Americans feel actors deserve to be paid so much" . That's simple we are capitalists by nature and how much money they make for what they do is their business. The real question about actors, athletes, musicians, comedians and entertainment people in general is, Why do we pay them a penny's worth of attention when they are making political statements?

simple--we DON'T feel they deserve so much $$$$...where did you come up with that?
--or do you mean--''why do they get so much $$$??''' ....supply and demand--basic economics
