I'm against DACA too. I'm ok with the guys who came here as kids staying, but not as citizens, and imo a federal law should deny them ANY eligibility for college assistance. But if anyone is here legally, then they should be eligible for stimulus checks.

I realize this is about stimulus, and not immigration law or judgments about right and wrong. I just think anything we do, should discourage illegal immigration as much as possible. jmo. If illegal immigrants have suckier lives without stimulus benefits .... the harm to the econ is worth the benefit, imo.

Person C earns more on unemployment than they did working, and received $3K more income for the year 2019. Eligible for a COVID entitlement.

Person D only likes to work part-time @ $50 an hour. Eligible for a COVID entitlement.

All will pay principle & interest & more (e.g., inflation & higher taxes) for "entitlements" of which only three receive benefit.

As for your other scenarios, if a guy is making 50 bucks an hour and they have a choice, it is nearly impossible to believe they would choose to work only part time. And almost NOBODY makes more on unemployment then they would working even at only $7.25 an hour. That would be $290 per week compared to the $151 they'd be making on unemployment. This right wing talking point that people are lazy and don't want to work is not true all or even most of the time as they suggest.

So EVERY Republicans voted against this bill, even though 3 out of 4 Americans support it. That makes no sense. Democrats can make serious hay of this stupidity considering Donnie's tax cut for Paris Hilton was 400 Billion more expensive and received 100% support from Republicans. Doesn't square.

I actually know people who got laid off prior to August last year who did make more off of state and the federal "bonus" UI than they did working. I'm not complaining. Those folks who got "bonus time" will probably never see the job being the same, or it'll take at least a year, even if it comes back.

I think my link was partially incorrect. IF a person actually filed and paid tax, they get the stimulus. Even if they are illegally here. I'm not sure how or why anyone not legally here should get any tax refund or stimulus. I subscribe to the whack a mole view. If they popup, whack em. Ship em out, or give them some legal status that still keeps them from getting as many benefits as possible while they pay taxes.

So what? What does that have to do whether a convicted felon that has paid his time should get one or not. That's up to the State whether all rights have been return to the felon. If all rights have been returned to the felon by the state, he should receive everything everyone else gets.

But, if, as you say, BOTH parties are trying to destroy the Middle Class, I would say Democrat policies do so on a comparatively larger scale. Under Democrat tax plans, the Middle Class keeps LESS of its paycheck; paying more in taxes despite Democrat promises that Middle Class earners won't pay more in taxes. Look at Obama-Biden promise of 2008 that anyone making less than $250,000, would not pay more in taxes? Didn't happen. Contrast that with the Trump tax reform that yielded an outcome of Middle Class keeping more of its paycheck. How about healthcare policies of Democrats? The Middle Class pays more. Energy policies? Democrats' push for elimination of fossil fuels in the absence of viable alternatives to at least sustain the economy of fossil fuels results in the Middle Class paying more in gasoline prices. Egregious regulation and taxes aimed at Small Business definitely hurts the Middle Class as nearly most small business owners and all small business employees are Middle Class.
