Why do people say political lobbying is a major problem in the US and is nothing but bribery? (Congress, illegal?

I really don't care which party is lying, robbing and cheating. I want it all to stop, and a lie detector could do just that. It could also save a lot of time and money currently being wasted on trials and investigations. And the best thing is it would be fair to everybody and save us a shitload of money. Of course crooked politicians would hate it so I wouldn't ever expect this to become reality. Back to MAGA
A lie detector has little influence on stuff that the Supreme Court doesn't deem a crime.

As for Russia. The EU is spending a serious amount of money trying to "fix" Russia. By virtue of booting them out of Ukraine. Something that quite a few people in the MAGA crowd have a problem with.
You're goddamned right I have a problem with it. It is YOUR fucking fault that Russia is being asswipes.

When the USSR fell apart, where was Western Europe? They turned their collective noses up at the Russians. They wouldn't let them join in Their Reindeer Games. They barely even helped when the Russian People about starved to death.

WE, The USA, had to bail them out. As usual. Then we told Europe, "Hey, it's your backyard, you take care of it." And the euro-weenies did -- Nothing. You were too busy building your HSR systems, providing free health care, giving out 2 years of Maternity and even PATERNITY leave, unlimited unemployment benefits......

So a Strong-Man emerged. Shock.

That guy's name was Putin, And he's there because your idiot, selfish, scumbag leaders wouldn'y do anything to help Russia when they needed it.

As to Ukraine, as an individual Country I believe we, The USA, on another Continent entirely, supply the most aid by far.

Don't try to bullshit me. Save it for your Wine and Cheese crowd.

So when Russia comes knocking at your door, call somebody who gives a fuck

Our social security outdates Russia's collapse by multiple decades. We maintained it even when there was a mandatory draft and military expenditure several orders of magnitude bigger than it is today.

So please get of this. Europe can live how they live because of the US BS.

I'll give a little history lesson for the criminally uninformed.

Yes the US helped out Europe tremendously after WW2 via the Marshall plan. It was however not done out of some altruistic motive. It was done because of the economic reality that a devastated Western Europe would not be able to withstand the Soviets.

So the US rebuild Europe, in exchange for being the dominant partner militarily, economically and culturally. A partnership that has lasted for seventy years to EVERYBODY'S satisfaction.

Europe however had a different philosophy in terms of how they arranged their post-war society. Favoring a mix of Socialistic and Capitalistic policy preferences. Strong unions which are capable of countering corporate greed. Resulting in regulations that favors the working class. And high taxes ensuring a pretty high base standard of living.

In fact so did the US. Until Ronald Reagan,
convinced you idiots that corporations when left to their own devices would choose to not maximize their profits out of a sense of civic duty. Something that changed in a few decades in people like you being unhappy about the state off your country but not being able to identify why the middle class disappeared, and an income gap rivaling the robber baron era, besides that is, blaming foreigners for it.

First -- Europe is a shithole. In Britain they just imprisoned a man for chanting during a demonstration.

So don't you fucking DARE to lecture us about -- Anything. We should have let Hitler have your sorry asses. Never again. Never again should we shed one drop of blood for you sorry fucks.

That because in the UK they don’t have constitution like the US that allows freedom of speech.

This is made worse since SCOTUS decided to allow unlimited funds put in SUPER PAC's the only restriction being that those funds aren't under direct control of the campaigns. Notice that direct control leaves a lot of leeway.

Finally to make matters still worse, SCOTUS recently came out with another ruling stating that rewarding a politician for acts done while in office is perfectly legal, as long as those rewards don't go to him while still serving.
I thought there was laws that person or business can only give so much money to party or person running. But you saying SCOTUS is now allowing unlimited funds to political party or person running?

They go on to say both parties are corrupted because of the political lobbying and the problem is really bad in the US. How did the political lobbying get started and so out of control where I believe Europe and the UK have much stricter laws on political lobbying.

quote It's illegal to give money directly to a politician. That's bribery. You can't even pay for their meal.

That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of ways to get around that restriction and bribe politicians indirectly. quote

What do they mean when people say that, can some one here elaborate on that.

Also I thought there was suppose to be limits how much money a person or business can give to political party or person running for government?
Who says you can’t buy a politician a meal?

Exactly, it's not anything new. Happened a decade ago.

Bribery alone wouldn't be enough to control Congress and the courts. The big stick is the blackmail and out and out threats by people just out of the view frame. Do you think Epstein's little club was just about a little grabass? It collected intel and damaging data on politicians and power figures, and anything compromising was used to control them. The threats are very real to elected officials whether or not you know about them, they know the rules.

They were saying it is because Europe treated Russia like shit and did not help them. But they did not elaborate on what should of Europe done after the fall of communism to help Russia.

Don't mind him. He was also trying to justify Russia invading Ukraine by blaming the rise of Putin on Europe. Bullshit that makes no logical sense. It's what they got. Ad hoc justifications to support their immoral positions.

If the big corporate farm that gives politicians enormous campaign contributions and other perks feels threatened by your band of peons, they'll buy the laws they want and price you right out if they have a mind to. Lobbying, as a way to let your concerns be heard, is fine but when you enter money into the deal, it becomes bribery. And that's not a game the small guy can win.

What can the political party or person running can and cannot do with that money?

I thought it was illegal to use that money on eating out, staying in hotels, buying things?

It's not even illegal for the politicians to use that money for personal legal expenses. It's murky at best.

Lobbying is the only way many small industries, small businesses and individuals can be heard by Congresscritters.

Say you've got a problem with the EPA. They want to choke your diesel tractors out of existence(they do) and nobody is listening at the EPA because, well frankly -- They're a bunch of radical, RADICAL communists.

So you want to Lobby to get the EPA to stop putting stupid shit on your tractors that causes them to break down every 5 minutes.

The DISGUSTING FILTH in the Lame Stream Media isn't going to take up your case. They're worse communists than the EPA is. So you have to get together with a bunch of other Farmers and try to Lobby Congress.

Same with -- Everything.

Huge Industries and HUGE Businesses don't have a problem getting Congress to listen. The little guy can get lost in the shuffle and often does.

Is there corruption in Lobbying? Duh. Of course there is. Any time politicians are involved, there is corruption.

Sorry, life isn't perfect.

Wow we are not talking about small and medium businesses here.

Wow what total waste of elections here.

I believe if they are running for election than the only time it is legal to use that money to eat out at restaurants or stay at hotels if it is part of the camping there.

So if Trump goes to Houston for two days camping there than it is legal to use that money to eat out there and stay at hotels and than next week Trump goes to Tulsa he can use that money to eat out there and stay at hotels there so on.

But he cannot buy house or car with that money or put that money in his bank account. Even go to mall and start buying things with that money he can’t do that.

You think ALL CAPS makes your point valid. 🤣
Nope. I do think caps add emphasis to certain words. On the other hand, I do see that focusing on me using caps seems to be your preferred way to avoid actually engage the content of what I say. It's what is called a red herring. And it's what somebody does when he CAN'T dispute what I say. Suggesting my point is valid, and you simply want to avoid it. See... caps for emphasis.

By the way if you don't like caps I'd suggest not voting for Trump. His posts often are entirely in caps.

I don't think anything is illegal when it comes to our government, not even murder.
