My Son is a Firefighter over here and they have a strong Union.All the admin and ancillary staff get the same benefits because the Union rightly considers them to be one team. They get paid regardless of who is in government. that is civilised behaviour.

The question is what is the worth of being a firefighter? There will be many who defend it. But taxes are enormous in many communities and where the most work is done is in areas where there are not much in taxes paid. And then there are the medical squads. Like taxis to hospitals in manya reas while the middle class pays through the nose to get the same service.

So you dont want firemen or ambulances ? Wow !

Of course I do. But at a reasonable price. Wow!!! People are always scammed. I know. Firemen run in when others run out. But that is for the most part only busy areas of our nation. Its to expensive now. And since we support a permanent underclass it will only get more expensive. Anyway the system will collapse and firemen becoming millionaires will end. Saul Alinsky lives with you....Servicing second and third world areas of our nation at extreme costs is stupid. A collapse will cut checks by at least a half and up to 85% from what I read on pensions alone. There are many people who were firemen who did very little in their careers. And are living the life of riley. Like the useless cop at the school in the South Florida school shooting.

I sort of think that the lives of poor people are as important as the lives of rich people. I know that probably makes me a commie but policing , healthcare , health and safety, clean air and water should be available to all.

It is important. Its the cost of our humanitarian ways. For the trillions of dollars we spend there is a lot of corruption and ineptitude. But we have to many people stroking the backs of certain jobs where it is not as deserved as you may think. People gravitate to certain jobs because they are desired by reputation. You do not mind cuts to the military, but somehow cuts to police and fire are no-no's. The military has the corrupted military/industrial complex with a rising nation in China that can builld up a military to compete with us. The corrupted poverty game/poverty service complex is sucking the life blood out of communities. And helped by inept politicians elected that drive the communities to even more depressing ways. So blame the Republican for Flint, Michigan water when the progressive socialist idiots running the city get off scot free. You can be sure they will live a great life when leaving office or government though. Those auto cities in Michigan screwed themselves over with greed all around.

That means I had about $1,500 of disposable income a month and boy did we dispose of it. Local businesses around bases like our bloated paycheck but I think the average taxpayer is getting the shaft. I even received over $40,000 worth of education when I got out.

By the way. The military gets too much glory too. A cop's job is way more dangerous than a Marine in uniform. On top of that, he doesn't get 15-20 year breaks in 'peace time'. I think cops should get more pay and more praise than military.

Though by the time you got there Court street was no longer nothing but bars and strip clubs! When I was there in 88 some threw a CS canister in to one of the strip clubs.

My mom still has mine. I got recycled in Boot Camp for failing the rifle ranger My book like that is with the people I graduated with not the people I went through boot camp with. It is practically worthless to me. I didn't get to know the guys I graduated with.
