Why did the democrats block a bill to fund the military during their shut down of government?

Proof Schumer is holding America hostage on a political stunt. CRs are for funding already negotiated and voted on programs, not new programs.

Since board Dimtards are avoiding my education thread like it's a job.............

Summary

The program activities of most federal agencies are generally funded on an annual basis through the enactment of regular appropriations acts. When those annual appropriations acts are not enacted by the beginning of the fiscal year (October 1), one or more continuing appropriations acts (commonly known as continuing resolutions or CRs) may be enacted to provide temporary funding to continue certain programs and activities until action on the regular appropriations acts is completed.

There are six main features of CRs.

First, CRs have provided funding for certain activities (coverage), which are typically specified with reference to the prior fiscal year's appropriations acts.

Second, CRs provide budget authority for a specified duration of time. This duration may be as short as a single day or as long as the remainder of the fiscal year.

Third, in recent practice, CRs have typically provided funds based on an overall funding rate rather than in specified amounts.

Fourth, the use of budget authority provided in the CR has been prohibited for new activities not funded in the previous fiscal year.

Fifth, the duration and amount of funds in the CR, and purposes for which they may be used for specified activities, may be adjusted through anomalies.

Sixth, legislative provisions—which create, amend, or extend other laws—have been included in some instances.

I don't know but I am damn glad they did.
This non stop empire building and world policing is greatly responsible for the economic problems faced today.

Not even remotely true. If the Senate passes a bill that is one character different, the House would have to re-ratify. You don't seem to know how a bill becomes a law. And believe me; nobody is surprised by your ignorance.
the **** are you talking about?

Spending originates in the House. They passed a clean Continuing Resolution and sent it to the Senate.

That is the NORMAL flow of how laws get done.

The Senate then votes up or down on it, but they need 60 votes to get it passed.

They can try and alter it, if their leader allows it. How many times did Harry "pass the chedar" Ried shitcan a bill from the repulbicand by not allowing a vote on it? This is slight different ONLY in that Thune is not going to permit any alterations to the bill that the HOUSE HAS ALREADY passed.

The hold up is the ******* Nazi Schumer and his fear of that tiny quisling AOC.

This is all on Schumer, 1000%.

You need to learn how this government works. Deal with it.

That one has no clue how things work. She just runs with whatever the Madcow dude on MSDNC tells your to think.

Agreed. Not an original thought in that head for a decade or more.

No shit brains. You clearly have nothing except your unbridaled hatred; well that and your completely moronic understanding of how bills becomes laws.

The senate seldom (if ever) just rubber stamps what the House passes. During contentious debates conference committees are empaneled. They should do that here.

But thanks for confirming that Thune and company are the ones holding up the show. We already knew it but its good that you actually stumbled into honesty there.

Ever since Trump came on the scene the democraps have been trying to start a civil war and have always been trying to start a race war.
Democrats have always exercised the 'divide and conquer' tactic. Never more evident than in 2020 when, in addition to the easy race, basic gender and party divisions that they historically have targeted, they added LGBTQ+, vaxxers, and illegal immigration supporters.

This is a clean CR. No reason to have a contentious debate. It's already been done last year. Unless, of course, you WANT to shut the government down, which the democrats obviously did.

So your new ridiculous posture is that the liberals who you guys think worship the government wanted to shut it down?

Yeah...well...that is a bizarre and unsurprisingly stupid take; even for you.

Who else is holding up the CR that would open the gov't and facilitate negotiations on a new budget? Yeah, the democrats. Now twist yourself into another knot to try and deny that Schumer, Jefferies and the democrats are obstructing the work of congress and holding the most vulnerable, the military and essential workers--in essence, the entire country hostage to their petulant, childish temper tantrum.

It's pathetic how Republicans can't take responsibility for anything.

The largest Federal workers union has turned against democrats. That should tell you something, but I don't think you're honest enough to admit it.

I am supportive of the Dimocraps blocking a CR that only keeps Bidet’s spending rolling along.
If the GOPers were worth a piss they’d have produced an actual budget by now.

What do you mean, "new"? It's been true since the moment your party refused to approve the CLEAN CR for the first time. Wake up, candy, and inform yourself.

Well, according to one right wing poster here, Thune refuses to budge, the blob isn't even in the country, and the GOP lead House is out of session.

Those are the facts and they are not in dispute.

None of Schumer's obstructionists have budged, the house has already passed the resolution and Schumer is holding the country hostage. Trump has nothing to do with it. Next.

The majority of Democrats voted against reappropriating funds to pay U.S. military personnel and essential workers on Thursday, in a key vote that could mark a turning point in the standoff between the two parties as the federal government shutdown continues.

The vote failed 54-45, preventing the bill from reaching the threshold to pass the "Shutdown Fairness Act." This followed Republicans blocking a bill proposed by Democrats that would have paid all federal workers, members of the military, and federal contractors while also blocking President Donald Trump from attempting mass layoffs during the shutdown.

There can only be one answer, it is because the democrat party wants to inflict as much pain to the American people as they can after they manufactured the shutdown, a shutdown that made sure democrats in Congress are getting paid, so that they could try to blame the GOP for all of it.

There can be no other explanation.
our government is shutdown.

Clear

No they haven't. I heard an interview with the president of the union. He is talking about both sides. He told everybody to come to the table, but of course, the lying right-wing media is going to spin this, and idiots will repeat the lies just like you have done.
