Hoping for at least a few calm, sober, thoughful responses.

More and more videos are surfacing over the October 7 attacks that began this (latest) international crisis. Atrocity after atrocity that are difficult for most of us to imagine. And now Israel is (predictably) responding, and things are only getting more dangerous.

So: Surely these people knew there would be a response, and some of the scenes are so brutal that it almost seems as if they're trying to PROVOKE a response. A BIG response.

Assuming there is some kind of organized strategy here, why do you think they did this? What is their end goal? My guess is that they're willing to sacrifice the innocents in Gaza to pull in other groups and countries to eliminate Israel once and for all.

I've read two accounts that Hamas tried this now, after having planned it for years, without noticing either Hezbollah or Iran, because it wanted to pull them both into a larger war .... and they declined.

I recall Surada posting that the reasons the Pales are still in camps is that THEY don't want to assimilate into other nations. I'm not sure any one wants Pales in their countries. And I'm really not sure how I feel about the Pales' views on statehood. There's no political organization outside Hamas, which has given up any pretense about governing. But, my family came here cause the Brits starved them .... and my relatives were supporting the IRA in the 1970s, and white separatists in Queens by the 1980s. IT took an entire century, but we did assimilate. Sorta.

How "savage" for the Israelis to offer exchange of land for peace. Isreal has a demonstrated history of returning / trading land in exchange for peace effectively redefining its borders. The State of Israel has returned and withdrawn from captured territory nearly the size of Israel itself-- the Sinai, land east of the Golan, southern Lebanon, Gaza, etc. let's remember that the lands Israel has captured were the result of Arab-islamist wars of aggression in which the Islamist aggressors suffered humiliating losses. Lecture us about the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza which was met with your islamic terrorist heroes turning the area into another islamic terrorist enclave.

Let's be blunt. The Zionist Squatters didn't withdraw from Gaza out of the goodness of their hearts. They withdrew because the expense of occupying it exceeded the benefits. They had more troops in Gaza than settlers. The same with the Sinai or South Lebanon... Too expensive to occupy with no real benefits.

What they need to do is pack up, go back to Europe where they came from, and then they'll have peace.

But scratching their big heads and wondering,"Why are these people trying to kill us?" like they have no idea, is laughable.
