How good is Freddie Freeman?

Freeman is now hitting .333 with three homers, seven RBIs and a 1.635 OPS in the World Series. He's doing so while playing on a sprained right ankle he sustained near the end of the regular season. Through the NLDS and NLCS, Freeman was in and out of the lineup, clearly hobbled by the injury.

Dating back to his time in Atlanta, Freeman has now gone deep in five straight World Series games, tying George Springer, who did it with the Astros, for the all-time record. (No player has homered in every game of a World Series, and only Springer has done so in four straight in the same Fall Classic.)
he played at El Modena HS in Orange Ca.....he was pretty good back then....he was OC player of the year in 07...

The Dodgers have to close it out. If they lose it, they will be the worst choke artists in World Series history. Their top two pitchers are money players, and they will pitch again if needed.
i already consider them one of the worst chokers....yankees will win tonight and avoid a sweep....even though i dont see how they can lose the series....

Up 3 to 0? God damn I love it when the Yankees choke. I never liked to see ARod or Jeter win. Overpriced team. Stealing other teams best players. Fuck them.

Yesterday they were saying how the pressure and batting averages go down in the playoffs. Pitchers are more focused in during the playoffs. Will go after big hitters. And will win because the pressure gets to the hitters. Except for the one guy hitting all the home runs. He's in the zone. He's a big situation hitter. Built for it. Clearly.

Anyways, you could say why isn't this true for the other team. And that's true. For whatever reason, LA is confident and NY is not. Maybe home court in games 1 and 2 is huge?

I love it when NY gets cold in the playoffs. Usually earlier than this. I mean the years where they are expected to win it all. Chokes. Like this year. Ha ha NY.

What's weird is I want NY Knicks to win a championship. I don't hate them like I do the Yankees. LOL

Oh I'm sure he was a beast. I played baseball with some beasts. One guy in particular, was just a home run machine. Built for it. Perfect swing.

One guy I went to school with was drafted in the first round by Boston. Never pitched one game in the big leagues. Played in the minors some but never made it. First round pic.

All through my life they have stolen players from other teams. I recall Cecil Fielder, Prince Fielder, Granderson,

Ok this I didn't know. The Yankees drafted Judge in the first round of the 2013 MLB draft with the 32nd overall selection

How about 326 batting average Soto? On December 6, 2023, the Padres traded Soto and Trent Grisham to the New York Yankees

Or this guy

Anthony Vincent Rizzo (born August 8, 1989) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs.

Have things changed in recent years? That's the way it always was. The OVERPRICED Yankees. Then George Steinbrenner would just have to give the smaller franchises some money to shut them up.

So it was always great to see the Yankees lose to a team of lesser paid players. Like in the movie Moneyball.

Here

The New York Mets have the highest payroll in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2024 season, with a total payroll of $317,778,899. The next highest paid teams are:
  • New York Yankees: $309,434,607
  • Houston Astros: $255,271,371
  • Philadelphia Phillies: $247,149,605

so anyone who signs a fee agent is stealing a player?...

We (my dad and I) feel this has ruined baseball. It was better (he thinks) when you owned that player. So you don't lose your draft picks after their first contracts are up. It's hard for Detroit to build something. For Christ sakes we had Max and Verlander. Imagine if we could have kept them for their entire careers.

Verlander and Scherzer were teammates during a period of great success for the Tigers, including four consecutive AL Central division titles, three AL Championship Series appearances, and the 2012 World Series.

At one time, the World Series was it. As a kid they even had weekday games in the afternoon. We thought moving the day games to nighttime was cool. Not so cool now. America's pastime imploded.
:TH_WAY~113: well said, man those were the good old days.
