If the trade deficit goes down, it’ll be because the dollar is devalued and Americans have less disposable income.

The availability of discretionary income to US consumers will absolutely reduced our trade deficits. But then the global recession trump is causing will also force foreign consumers of our exported goods to cut back as well.

When the tariffs do their job and get the US new trade deals that are beneficial to our economy? That's the sole reason for having them in the first place. The stock market will rebound. If you sold your stocks and don't get back in you're going to miss out on one of the biggest bull markets of all time.
