Pennsylvania voter records listed a Thomas Matthew Crooks with the same address and birth date as a registered Republican, though it was not clear from the records when that was put in place.

Political registration as a standalone criteria to assess one’s political views is not reliable. People with political views that are in stark contrast to a party may very well register with that party for a variety of reasons. I live in a very heavy Democrat jurisdiction and know plenty of staunch conservative Republicans who are registered Democrats yet vote Republican.
