The Versailles Treaty was the reason for Hitler's rise to power. The Germans were thoroughly humiliated by the terms of the treaty and Hitler was one of the main causes for WWII. He never intended to honor the treaty.
If there wasn't a Germany after WW1, there wouldn't have been a WW2.
