Moochele had to shoot off her big mouth and somehow manages to omit a lot of historical FACT. Here's the truth:

Construction on the President's House began in 1792 in Washington, D.C., a new capital situated in sparsely settled region far from a major population center. The decision to place the capital on land ceded by two slave states-Virginia and Maryland-ultimately influenced the acquisition of laborers to construct its public buildings. The D.C. commissioners, charged by Congress with building the new city under the direction of the president, initially planned to import workers from Europe to meet their labor needs. However, response to recruitment was dismal and soon they turned to African American—enslaved and free—to provide the bulk of labor that built the White House, the United States Capitol, and other early government buildings.

Stonemason Collen Williamson trained enslaved people on the spot at the government's quarry at Aquia, Virginia. Enslaved people quarried and cut the rough stone that was later dressed and laid by Scottish masons to erect the walls of the President's House. The slaves joined a work force that included local white laborers and artisans from Maryland and Virginia, as well as immigrants from Ireland, Scotland, and other European nations.

They were still slaves. I don't see the need to somehow detract from the story. Slavery was legal and slaves helped build America. Desendants of slaves should be as proud of that as are the DAR of their ancestors ... assuming anyone gets off on the ancestor stuff.

I don't really care what a bunch of dead people did 200 years plus ago. I'm grateful for my relatives who fought in four wars in the 20th century.

It was also rebuilt after the Brits burned it down in 1812 .

Blacks and Irish. Irish were largely indentured servants and Blacks were largely sold by other Blacks into slavery.

And that makes slavery ok!!!

When you think about it, it's the white slave owners who were the victims ! Having slaves forced upon them by slick talk black slave salesman back in Africa !

That was the old White House. It was burned to the ground in 1814. Whoever built that house didn't build this one.

So you wanted to point out that in fact- Michelle Obama- the First Lady- was indeed correct when she said:

“Did you know that African-American slaves helped to build this house?” Obama asked the students, in a poignant moment during the early days of President Obama’s administration.

Michelle Obama stood on a stage in the East Room. On either side of the stage were huge oil paintings. On one side was a painting of the first first lady, Martha Washington, and on the other, a painting of President George Washington.

Obama shared other moments in black history with the students. “Did you know that right upstairs in a bedroom called the Lincoln Bedroom, President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that marked an important step forward in ending slavery? Did you know that happened right here?”

She told the students about Rutherford B. Hayes, who was president in 1878 when soprano Marie Seilka became “the first African-American artist to perform right here in the White House. That was in 1878. Did you know that? Because I didn’t know that.”

Obama explained the roles of Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders who met in the White House with presidents Kennedy and Johnson to talk about ending segregation.

“Pretty cool, huh?” Mrs. Obama said

Tell that to the cultures that STILL tolerate slavery.

Who REALLY cares? It's built. Do you know an illegal mexican harvested your lettuce for your salad? Will you eat it anyway?

There are millions of slaves at this moment throughout the world. Most are held by blacks, Muslims, and Asians. The majority of human trafficking here in the USA are pimps wth their teenage prostitutes and Asians who operate massage parlors with girls who are virtually slaves.
