Patriotism isn't "supporting your country all of the time". Patriotism is taking pride in your country, and being willing to do the right thing by your fellow citizens.

Patriotism isn't parsing "real Americans", meaning those who are just like you, it means supporting ALL Americans, including those who disagree with you. I find that Americans who push themselves as "real patriots" are really rabid right wingers who beliefs are based on fear and prejudice, not the values espoused by your Constitution, of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
