The White House is preparing a draft proclamation for President Donald Trump to declare a national emergency along the southern border and has identified more than $7 billion in potential funds for his signature border wall should he go that route, according to internal documents reviewed by CNN.

Trump has not ruled out using his authority to declare a national emergency and direct the Defense Department to construct a border wall as Congress and the White House fight over a deal to end the government shutdown. But while Trump's advisers remain divided on the issue, the White House has been moving forward with alternative plans that would bypass Congress.

"The massive amount of aliens who unlawfully enter the United States each day is a direct threat to the safety and security of our nation and constitutes a national emergency," a draft of a presidential proclamation reads.

I think it is coming to that point. One of my concerns is the people coming over from these countries have not been innoculated against diseases we seldom see in the US any longer. Some of our citizens do not innoculate their own children out of uneducated fears that they could come down with some malady after receiving the shots. They would be in jeopardy as well as other immigrants who haven't had their shots.

Combine that threat with the drug issues we have with Mexico and people with criminal natures coming through, Trump would be well advised to take this action.

It is a National Emergency and has been for decades. These illegals cost we the taxpayer billions every year. Not to mention disease, and drugs that make it over the border.

We need the wall so none can get in. Once its built we can boot those that are here out. No more anchor babies and no more illegals in this country.

Actually we've a 150 yr history of walling our southern border , none of which has proven effective. Now i don't presume to know the details of this 'smart wall' proposal by the Dems, but at first sniff it sounds better than <another> dumb wall
