If anyone does not think the hypersensitivity in matters of race is not due to the personality and views of the POTUS, they are deluding themselves.
Here we have the first black president. Black people rejoiced in 2008. The country gave Obama another 4 years because they were told "it's Bush's fault" and the POTUS needed more time to "fix it"...Meanwhile, the crescendo of identity politics grew louder as the economic recovery, albeit as slow as watching grass grow, was not getting to the very people who rejoiced that a person "who looks like them" was in the White House supposedly to make things better for "the Community". With that it was assumed in order to make things better the country needed more minority politicians. The government needed to have more minorities in important posts where public exposure was common.
With each public utterance on matters which really do not concern the White House, Obama had decided he HAD to have something to say. Each time his words while well meaning, made things worse.
Starting with the incident in Cambridge, MA which became known as "the Beer Summit"....Obama skimmed the headlines and before he knew all of the facts, told the country "The Cambridge police acted stupidly". That was an egg on face moment for Obama. And what happened? Black people all nodded their approval. And once the facts came to light, they got a little miffed because it was found that the cops acted appropriately and followed procedure according to policy.
Commentary from Obama that had good intentions, but paved the way to hell in the form of a series of foot in mouth moments for the POTUS
So here we are nearing the final two years of Obama's tenure and "the Community" is not doing any better. All of the promises and speeches. All of the never ending campaigning and pandering. There is now tension and division.
It may take decades to undo the damage this president has done to race relations.
And here is the one glaring aspect of this or as some say 'elephant in the room'.....That while Obama has been in office the only relations that have suffered are those between blacks and Caucasians. Obama has failed to assemble a coalition of other minority groups, although he is trying desperately to include Latinos who by the way now outnumber blacks in the US, as a means to consolidate political power.
it simply is not working. And now that Obama has decreed the door is open to illegal immigration, blacks are coming to the realization that these illegals are pushing black people, American citizens, aside and taking jobs away from them. Black people now have another reason to be resentful and out of that resent, anger.
