I've yet to meet a Republican who didn't take Social Security & Medicare after retirenent?

I have seen a lot complain about such programs none the less.

Seems a bit hypocritical, no?

Ive yet to meet a democrat that volunteered to pay higher taxes.

If we want these programs, then they need to be funded. They are causing all kinds of problems because people lived their lives without saving and depended on SS being enough to make it. It isn't.

Medicare and Medicaid only pay about 2/3 of their patients bill. Not a big deal for a doctors visit, but a real problem for a $200,000 surgery. So then they need to up their prices and that gets passed on to non-government patients who's sole payer is insurance. Then insurance rates go up and it becomes unaffordable for some people.

Don't worry truck drivers don't finance Medicare much.

Unfortunately when my guess is 25% would be lower class wages without aid & another 25% would be less than middle class which is making 30 K or less a year.

A lot of people work hard to be paid modest wages.

Those who can't help themselves are typically that way because of the Capitalist system.

The only people that can't help themselves are those with disabilities. For them, we should provide a standard of living, especially if they worked their entire life.

Take my HUD neighbors for instance. They could work if they lost about 200 lbs each. But here they are with three kids, living in the suburbs off taxpayer dollars perfectly capable of working.

But when government provides them a reasonable standard of living, why work? And if you do work, why try harder? It will only cut into your government stipend.

What is poverty? Poverty is the situation of having no money or not enough money.

Solution to poverty: Obtain money.

How does one get money? Get a job, save as much as you can, and don't spend unless you absolutely have to. Do not have children. Get a roommate or several roommates if need be. Work more hours. If your job doesn't offer more hours, get a part-time job on the weekends.
