I realize that no matter who I vote for they won't be 100% by my 12 listed criteria so I will have to vote for someone as close to my criteria as I can. Do you know of any democrats who are close to my criteria?
1. Must be pro-business or at least neutral anyway. I won't vote for anyone who is flat out pro-worker. (I'm a businessman).
I too am pro-business.............but with restrictions in order to stop abuse
2. Must be against illegal immigration and for stopping the flow of illegals to our border. Anyone crossing the border illegally cannot be granted asylum. Must also be against sanctuary cities and states and be against birthright citizenship.
Being for or against illegal immigration is a waste of time because it is going to continue and grow around the world because of the increasing world population and the increasing amount of abuse that is happening. As such, I am for a president that understands that and tries to ameliorate it to the best it can be. There is no good answer to your statement
3. Must be though on crime, criminals, and terrorism and believe that law enforcement are not the enemies of the people.
I totally agree that enforcing the laws of the nation is a top priority, but that also applies to the president following the laws.
4. Doesn't believe in raising taxes in order to spend more money. Raising taxes to pay down the debt may be acceptable, depending on the details. But, no gaslighting and no trickery. One caveat, no raising tax revenues until the budget is balanced first and then those raised tax revenues go straight toward paying down the debt.
Raising taxes in order to help the nation work the best is a need. Nonetheless, one needs to keep in mind that perfection in anything is not possible. This means that understanding that the goal is to have more good than bad but that bad will also occur.
5. Must be pro-life and not for abortion on demand. Abortion should not be used as a method of birth control. No abortions allowed by providers receiving federal tax dollars. If so, federal tax dollars are to be stopped.
Abortion is an issue that has two clear sides to it where each side has a valid point. As such, Abortion must be compromised on by both sides. It cannot be "my or the highway" by any side.
6. Must be pro-2A. If you want to talk about "common sense" gun control legislation then talk to me about it after we first try keeping criminals locked up and the border secured.
Keeping all criminals locked up and the border secure is a fantasy that has never happened (or will ever happen) in history. I believe we all have the right to own guns with which to protect ourselves, with the key word being "protect", This means a lot of restriction on what guns and who owns them, is needed.
7. We must have a strong national defense, including the golden dome or whatever you want to call it. Any cuts to defense must be proven to be just wasteful spending.
Having a strong defense is a must but anything to the extreme is a waste of time.
8. Must cut spending to get our fiscal house in order, which also keeps inflation under control. We need to balance our budget.
I agree with a balanced budget, but that does require tax increases, especially to the rich. You cannot keep taxes low on the rich and have the poor pay the price.
9. We do need to work on simplyfying and making health care cheaper but not by adding costs to the national debt and not by stiffing providers and healthcare companies. We need to work with them and big pharma to control their costs instead of just classifying them as the enemy. We need to make healthcare cheaper for insurance companies, providers and big pharma so that everyone's healthcare will be cheaper.
That requires that Capitalism have some restrictions.
10. We need to work on a different federal tax system for individuals with the goal of eliminating the IRS altogether (with the exception of businesses). No filing tax returns for refunds or payments. What's paid is what is paid.
I disagree totally as eliminating the IRS means eliminating necessary restrictions.
11. Working toward Climate Change goals is a worthwhile endeavor but not by government mandate nor by government mandate against fossil fuels. And not by increasing costs to consumers and not by adding money onto our national debt. And don't give me any bologna that it saves us money when it actually costs us money.
All of this should be based on science and then based on compromise between both parties. Science is a must here.
12. No woke. No DEI. The "D" in DEI stands for discrimination. We don't achieve equity and inclusion by discrimination. No men in women's sports or bathrooms. The person I vote for must know what a woman is. Being progressive means you have automatically lost my vote. Kids will not be indoctrinated and parents have control of their minor's lives, not the children, not the schools, not the medical field, and not the government.
7% of the population is gay or transgender and they have the same rights as we all do. As such, a compromise is definitely needed here to fulfill the rights we all have. I agree we all have strong opinions on this subject, but this is not a clear issue that any one person or party can make a decision on. There are a lot of issues involved, some of which are valid issues that would be omitted if things would be done as you suggest.
In finishing my post:
Bottom line is that there is no way any one person can be what you want them to be. What is important and key to everything, is to have someone that has morals, ethics, principles and humanity, and that is competent in trying to do what is the best that can be achieved, understanding that the goals achieved will not be all anyone wants.
