Good governance isn't a reality TV show fully of drama and cliffhangers. Good governance is quiet, efficient, and barely noticeable. If you're aware of your government, it's doing things very badly.

You haven't the vaguest idea of good governance because it departed when Reagan was elected. It's taken 40 years for the Republican rot to do it's work, but the right has destroyed unions, schools, and your infrastructure. The middle class is in decline, and your nation is weak, deeply in debt, and sliding into an authoritarian dictatorship.

He's never had a successful construction project since, and 7 major bankruptcies around the world is the most in history.

Fred covered $1 billion in losses for Dumb Donald in the 1980's. When Fred's dementia made it impossible for him to continue to help his son, that's when the bankruptcies started. It wasn't until American banks refused to lend him any more money, and Donny started selling property to Russians, that he started marking any money at all. The Apprentice and the money it generated kept the company afloat after the turn of the century.

It's easy to see why Trump Hotels and Resorts are failures all around the world. His Toronto hotel was an abject failure. It was like a poor person's idea of how the rich like to live. Not only that, but it was overpriced and gave poor value for the money. A true reflection of the man himself.

Donald Trump is a con man. That's the only thing he's ever been good at. Conning people into doing business with him and then fleecing them for every dollar he could.

Clinton was very much a corporatist. He was a Milton Friedman fan too, before the disastrous consequences of his economic policies were known. But the enthusiasm of the IMF and the World Bank imposing Friedman's free market reforms in post-Soviet Europe and South Africa quickly soured the world on the wealth inequity and violence which resulted.

The Democratic Party had to abandon a lot of their platform to get elected in a nation enthralled with the racist message of Reagan's Republican Party and the phony "prosperity" which resulted from the combination of tax cuts for the wealthy, coupled with massive increases in government spending.

The transfer of wealthy from the working and middle class began under Reagan and has accelerated with each successive tax cut. That's why the economy is collapsing. The wealthy have been using the skills and labour of the working classes to suppress unions, wages, and a fair deal for working Americans believing that a "supply side" economy trickles wealth down to the workers.

Neither Clinton nor Obama had a "super-majority" in the Senate to pass tax reform. But the situation became so bad after the Trump tax cuts that you now have the fastest transfer of wealth to the top in the history of the nation, and it's endangering the national recovery.

And still the Democrats don't have enough votes in the Senate to pass the legislation necessary to stop the Republican authoritarian destruction of the Constitution.

That's the same line Trump uses to explain all of his business collapses. It's always "someone else's" fault. But the bald fact is that Trump is a lousy manager. He throws his money around to bully local officials into giving him what he wants, and then when the bills come due, he refuses to pay them.

He stuck the island of Puerto Rico with $30 million they paid out for the infrastructure improvements for his resort property there, and when the project collapsed into bankruptcy, the local government had to eat those costs. Imagine if the island of Puerto Rico had invested that $30 million into infrastructure for its citizens. Would they be in the mess they're in today?

Trump blamed the "local corruption" for the failure of his resort there. And then he punished the whole island by blocking aid going to rebuild the shattered island after the hurricanes hit. It's time for the USA to give Puerto Rico statehood and give it political power, but Republicans will never let it happen. Power to White people, not the Hispanics, and certainly not DC.

I always wondered why so many of Trump's projects went bankrupt but after watching what happened in Toronto, it's hardly surprising. Trump pisses off everyone he does business with, and then sues them into the ground when they push back against his dishonesty and corruption. At the end of every project, they use the courts to push him out, and when every court case has been decided and he's lost them all, the sheriff throws him off the property, and the residents gather around and cheer when his name is taken off the building.

Trump promised he would run the country the same way he ran his business and that's about the only promise he's kept. You're at the end of the "sue you into the ground phase" of decoupling from this con-man. Most of the country is at the "cheering when his name comes off the building phase".
