What the heck? Disney in Florida is except from government?

If Disney closes shop Florida will lose it's ass! All of the international travel to the parks will go away. The hotels will be empty which means no tax revenue. Restaurants in the area will close due to lack of business, again killing tax revenue. The other tourist attractions will lose spillover customers and there goes more tax revenue.

How do you think Florida manages to operate without a state income tax? Tourist bucks! Disney drives the tourism machine in the state. Without it, Florida turns into Mississippi or Alabama with just a little worse weather in those states during the winter.

Pardon me for saying old timer, you REALLY did not think this though or you would not have made such a stupid statement.
You must be kidding.

Disney located a theme park in Florida because it is a tourist destination, Florida isn't a tourist destination because of a Disney theme park.

They have Indian casinos, horse racing, Jai Alai, and poker, along with fishing, hunting, beaches, the Florida Keys, Universal Studios, Daytona Speedway, Seaworld, all in one of the mildest climates in the United States.

Suppose Disney pulls out, opting to give up their share of the tourist business, just to thumb their noses at DiSantis. Are they going to burn Disney World down out of spite before they go, or will they sell it to the highest bidder? Not even close to a non-rhetorical question. That highest bidder will then re-open the theme park, without the child grooming and parent hating, and be more successful than ever.

Texas doesn't have no dadgum Disney World and we don't have no dadgum income tax neither!

Florida was NOT a tourist destination for international travel in the 1950s and early 60s . The had no decent airport until the 1970s.

Universal opened in 1990 a late comer to the game.. SeaWorld opened in 1973 specifically because Disney built there.
number of visitors. Daytona Speedway has a microscopic number of visitors compared to most attractions in Orlando.

Every Indian casino is located in south Florida. A Japanese family is not coming to Florida to hunt, fish or go to the beach.

You really know nothing about Florida, do you?

What is Texas' main source of tax revenue besides tourism? They have high sakes taxes and high property taxes. Enjoy!

Oh, the Casinos are in the southern part of the state? Then they don’t count, obviously.

I know that the rides and attractions of Disney World are not going away. Just the now disgraced name “Disney,” and the support for pedophilia. So, I’ll agree to disagree about what started the tourist boom, and just know that it will boom even more now.

Hard working Texans.

They have high sakes taxes and high property taxes. Enjoy!

That will change once we see how much money the state saves by exporting illegals to blue states.

We have a lot of problems here in Florida but Disney is not one of them. DeSantis fucking with our biggest employer just because he wants to run for president is not going to turn out well for him.
You are confused Moon Bat.

Disney fucked the pooch with all that filthy queer shit and now DeSantis is taking away their special privileges and that is a good thing for the people of Florida. Disney needs to get back to Walt's vision of providing wholesome family entertainment instead of being a proponent for deviant sexual behavior. Fuck Disney. They can go back to California where Queer Grooming of children is considered acceptable.

The problems we have here in Florida are mostly caused by Biden's disastrous leadership that is causing astronomical inflation, decreased family income, high cost of fuel, shrinking GDP, higher taxes and millions of Illegals that are flooding into this country.

I am truly sorry, but you are just being a contrarian because you are ignorant. Foreign visitors do not come here to gamble when they could go to Vegas

If Disney goes away, why would the rides and attractions not go away since they are ALL Disney related?

Why is that any different than Florida?

I would probably make good money if I would bet that you have never been to Florida. Would I be right?

BTW, I have been to Texas, numerous times and it is a wonderful state where I would not mind living.

I did live in Florida on 3 different occasions for about 15 years total.

They are Disney themed, of course. They have Disney logos, Disney characters, etc. But a water ride is a water ride. Paint over the Disney colors and take off the rubber Donald Ducks, and put whatever logo the buyer wants.

It isn’t. Florida also pays its taxes through hard work. The only tax dollars Disney saves Florida is the tax dollars Florida would have to pay for Disney’s water, sewage, etc. Which is a fine arrangement that I only wish Disney had not sacrificed in order to facilitate the radical LGBT movement’s attempted takeover of the American child.

I have been many places, but Florida is not one of them. I’m planning a poker tour of the South next summer, and I’m sure Florida will be on the list.

They are not "Disney -themed". they are Disney.
I was there in February. We stayed at the Star Wars Starcruiser Hotel Experience. (BTW, for a family of 4 for 3 days it runs about $6,000.) There are live action actors playing a number of Star Wars characters. The second day there, we went to their Hollywood Studios which has an entire section based on STAR WARS. We rode the Smuggler's Run ride which is based on STAR WARS Millennium Falcon.

On the third day, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom, with rides and attractions based on the Jungle Book, the Lion King, Jungle Cruise, and Avatar.

The 4th and last day was Epcot. Finding Nemo, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ratatouille!.

Do you honestly think another company could buy and operate all of these former Disney attractions and actually draw tourists?

NOT A CHANCE!

You are quite the Disney fan, I’ll give you that.

Why not? Does the hotel suck, other than having a Star Wars theme? Are the rides extremely boring, other than the Disney characters?

You may be right about Epcot. I’ve never been, but from what I’ve heard, it sounds pretty boring. So, maybe that is a place for only the most dedicated of Disney fans.

The hotel was fantastic beyond belief! I was blessed to go with my grandson who has 3 years of chemo due to his leukemia.

Everything inside the hotel is like a space ship. Your rooms have no windows, but view screens showing space. Your room has it's own droid for information built into the wall. To access the ship's main computer, get into your room, check in for training and assignments, you have a wrist band with your ID coded into it. The room sleeps 5.

The ship's Captain is a female with green skin. The ship's entertainment is an alien and her one alien accompanist. They are from alien races seen in the movies. The ship in boarded by the First Order Lieutenant and a crew of Stormtroopers to check for rebel supporters in the passengers and crew. You get to to decide which side you want to be on. Food is available 24/7 and a formal dinner is served Friday and Saturday night. The food is the best I have ever eaten. You would be hard pressed to find such a menu in a 5-star restaurant.

The characters Chewbacca, Rae, several droids like R2-D2, and other characters also show up. Many of the passengers dressed in Star Wars costumes. You can get training in a light saber, build your own light saber or droid, or train for bridge watches. The only time we were in our room was to sleep.

The staff lives on one deck of the ship during the trip and never leaves the premises. They rotate assignments throughout the trip.

For me there was nothing but sheer joy watching my oldest grandson (15 years old) interact with the First Order Lieutenant and the Storm Troopers. My youngest grandson (13 years old) actually released Chewbacca from the ship's brig and he and the other kids hid a 7 foot Wookie all over the ship so he would not be found.

The entire experience was like being in a movie for 3 days.

No, it did not suck! It was one of the greatest experiences in my life!
