The Holy Spirit wants people to become thankful for our spouses and children and buddies from work and our neighbours.

The Holy Spirit wants us to be less worried about materialism and entertainment.

I am not exactly a Mormon either, I am Messianic Jewish and you might find one of my major speculations at least to be somewhat encouraging?

I believe that the Holy Spirit leads us in such a way that our stoney heart become a soft, fleshy one. I don't think the transformation is even detectable as it is happening, but one eventually realizes that a wonderful change has occurred.
