The home schooled kids I've known are bored with public schooled kids. Some are happy to participate in sports with public schooled kids and that's it. Keep in mind that many home schoolers do not allow their kids to get all wrapped up in the media crap that turns kids into little zombies.

One kid I knew, given the option to go to public school, was disgusted with it, within one semester.

The kids played on the apparatus and ball pools, quietly and helping one another. It was kinda surreal. Then it started to get noisy, kids were starting to run about screaming and shouting. My friend said, "Time to go, the schools have finished and more are landing here". So the home school parents and kids packed up and left.

Sadly, it's become normal to hand young children over to strangers so mom can pursue her career. The children will also 'normalize' this, with predictable results later.

I taught my kids algebra and electronics at age eleven, so they already knew how to respond to teachers teaching. I also lectured them on history of politics and the military.

Take the GED, I did, and went to college six months later. College is just a repeat of the previous twelve years, such a waste of time. I preferred military training where they shoved it down yer throat at lightning speed.

I tried the military - Navy. By then I was just too far gone, with schizophrenia as well. I had to take Entry Level Separation, with the advice of my doctors.

I don’t agree that mental illness is an excuse. My physicians agree. Having said that, I have done very well in life.

Study and memorize for the grade rather than for understanding. Maybe that's why so many lack understanding.

But it gets worse. Most don't have the maturity or experience to actually understand what they're being asked to learn no matter how much they labor over it.

Teachers tell their students to "put your thinking caps on" when most don't know how to actually think about anything.

I remember a conversation with a friend and former co-teacher of my late husband's, when I asked him what public school "educators" were doing these days, and his reply was very concise.

"Teach kids to pass tests", is what he said.

My late brother-in-law was a genius who wrote educational programs for "gifted and talented" kids. He believed that the kid's real education ended when they entered public school.

Hmmm. I had 3 kids of my own. They all had a great public school education. Upon graduation I gave them only 1 option, attending college. No hanging around home., no entering the workforce, there were NO other viable choices. It surely paid off for them.

The primary purpose of school is to psychologically condition children to be subservient to Authority.

But it seems that a lot of schools have gotten incompetent at that.

I was at a high school before COVID where a teacher didn't know a meter from a kilometer.

Sit down, shut up, do as you're told. No talking, no thinking, obey unquestioningly. If you're not one of the golden few, you're always wrong and it's always your fault.

And what would you have done had one of them simply said, "No," to college? (Personally, if forced into college, I'd almost certainly have been dead in a month.)
