What is Libertarian?

McDonalds doesn't contribute anything?

You truly are stupid?:cuckoo:

I have to agree with that assessment. Kevin is proving to be one of the dumbest posters in this forum, and that's a very high bar to get over.

Perhaps Kevin really is a dog.

You're not exactly the brightest light on the ol' Xmas tree o' life, eh?:cuckoo:

Obviously.

Oh, Gosh. You dont respect me! I am so so sad now! I mean, sad...real sad. Your opinion about what you felt about me meant so much. What am I gonna do now? etc.....:cuckoo:
Like I said, you don't seem to be very bright, judging from the myriad of posts we've seen from you...........I expect we'll see you fade away from here, sooner rather then later.

I am so glad you have taken it upon yourself to be my judge and jury! You wanna be friends? We can rap about all kinds of cool stuff! I really appreciate you taking the time to personally critique me, and this is the main reason I signed up for this board! I...just...had...to...know...what...YOU...thought...about...my...opinions!!!! :)

can I guess? You're lean to the right??? hahahahahahha! Love political people.

Hmmm...I am noticing again that righties leaning posters have that Limbaugh tactic down to an art...when in doubt get personal and use any insult possible!!!!! Yay! For RUSH!

Do you ever read your own posts? Liberals are a true paradox.

No one could be that stupid, so liberals must just be pretending.

Why would anyone pretend to be that stupid?

It's a real poser...

No! I make it a habit to never read my own posts. Then I'd have to believe what I say and we cant have that. So, no, dont read my own posts. I dont read yours either. I only read posts on tuesdays from 2:43 am to 3:00 pm, then I stop.

You?

Yep, McDonalds doesn't contribute....You heard it here first, folks.:cuckoo:

Gotta love lib's!......They're so fuckin' stupid, it's comical.

The only thing I agree with the liberals about re McDonalds is that if it does go under, it should be allowed to fail.

But ANYBODY who loves freedom, free markets, and the principle of capitalism as an unalienable right (pursuit of happiness and all that), should strongly object to ANY government action that targets and hurts McDonalds or the people it employs.

If the federal government can tell McDonalds that it can't put a toy in its Happy Meal for the kids or that it HAS to offer something 'healthy' in addition to Egg McMuffins and Big Macs or that it MUST serve anything, the federal government can do anything to anybody. And all of us should be very concerned about that.

I have no problem with local communities specifying what sorts of businesses they want to have in their community so long as everybody has an equal right to put those businesses in there.

I have no problem with anything you said in this post!:clap2:

Bravo! :clap2:

Well said.

Though, I think that last paragraph is a slippery slope. We've seen it abused before. Yet... as a father, I can sympathize with it. I certainly don't want an adult bookstore across the street from my daughter's school. I do believe however, their right to be in business and their customer base having it available. Where do we draw the line at? Literally and figuratively.

A "Libertarian" is an idiot who thinks we can go back to an imaginary 19th century that never actually existed... Read "The Good Old Days- They Were Terrible!". Actually - also the definition of most Pub Dupes too...

"LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and
economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one
that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence."

"Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose
government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate
diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties."

"No, a libertarian world isn't a perfect one. There will still be inequality, poverty, crime, corruption, man's inhumanity to man. But, unlike the theocratic visionaries, the pie-in-the-sky socialist utopians, or the starry-eyed Mr. Fixits of the New Deal and Great Society, libertarians don't promise you a rose garden.

" Karl Popper once said that attempts to create heaven on earth invariably produce hell. Libertarianism holds out, not the goal of a perfect society, but of a better and freer one. It promises a world in which more of the decisions will be made in the right way by the right person: you. The result will be, not an end to crime and poverty and inequality, but less of most of those things most of the time--often much less."

I just thought I'd throw this one out there for discussion. It's my guess, based on many of the posts around here, that there will be wildly divergent views. I've been associated with libertarian causes, including the Libertarian party since before Ron Paul's first run for president ('88). I even ran for local county offices on the Libertarian ticket a couple of times as a 'paper' candidate ('paper' meaning I was on the ballot but didn't run an active campaign - and frankly had no expectation of winning).

For me, libertarian ideology is pretty simple. It's about taking the ethos of 'live-and-let-live' seriously. It's about real tolerance and diversity. It's based on the idea that the whole purpose of government is to maximize freedom.

And all this time I was under the impression that libertarians were liberal librarians. Go figure.

We draw the line at the will of the people. If you don't want a bar or liquor store in town, the people should be able to specify that we don't want a bar or liquor store in town. Etc. Those who really want to run a bar or liquor store will need to find a town that does want or allow those types of businesses. If a community is stupid enough to want a community of nothing but ice cream parlors and flower shops, the people should have the freedom to have that kind of community. There is no slippery slope if the people themselves choose what sort of society they wish to have and treat everybody the same within that society.

That is the freedom the Founders wanted people to have regardless of whether it was smart or not or created an adequate tax base or not. If people don't have the right to be prejudiced or narrow minded or foolish or set themselves up for failure, they have no rights at all.

The only problem would be if a Christian or friend of the mayor was allowed an exception but a Jew or a stranger to town was not; if a local good old boy was allowed to do it but somebody the folks didn't like much was not. Then we could be getting into a violation of rights and that would warrant a closer look.

Dr. Lyle Rossiter is a bought off POS. LOL!

Wow... deep thoughts.

I've got another one for you. And actually quite fitting, considering...

One day one of my little nephews came up to me and asked me if the equator was a real line that went around the Earth, or just an imaginary one. I had to laugh. Laugh and laugh. Because I didn't know, and I thought that maybe by laughing he would forget what he asked me.

Btw, Dr Lassiter has way more credibility, than you could ever hope to aspire towards.

But see, now you're ruling by mob mentality.

Like I said. Slippery slope.
