Zone1 What Is All This "Christian Nation" Stuff?

If a "nation" is defined by its people, and most are Christian, then it follows that we are a Christian nation regardless of pleas to the contrary. All the Constitutions really says is that the State shall not impose or require a religious belief for citizenship.

It is noteworthy that historically some Muslim countries have allowed other religions, but those nations still remain "Islamic" nations.
Not persuaded. Iran is a Muslim nation. Israel is a Jewish nation. But the United States of America is not a ”Christian” nation.

It isn’t a required part of our lives here nor is it anything demanded of our republic by our Constitution.

Here is the thing. I would get called a lost cause proponent but that is not my message at all. We all live with the history books supplied to us. Those who support the South are hated by the North and pretty well cancelled out. I found some history books willing to be honest.

To get where I am at, consider two wars. Washington's war which is commonly approved and the way Abe attacked VA which some of us do not like at all.

Today we all linger with elements of the War called civil. It was surely not civil at all. Civil wars are when two sides enter combat each wanting to take over the other side. Similar to what happened in Korea during that war.

Any war between the citizens of the same country is civil war regardless of what their end motive might be.

But what motivated millions of white Americans to stand up and oppose slavery, many at the risk of their reputations, standing in their communities, their fortunes, and/or their very lives? It was Christian values and concepts that motivated them.

I am not speaking of those who fought in The Civil War though many or most of those too had to wrestle with their Christian consciences in all that. The Quaker community was much larger and more widespread in the mid 19th Century than now, and it was especially traumatic for many of them who believed and practiced pure gentle pacifism but were torn on the right and wrong of defending their country.

Certainly many if not a pretty large majority of those in the seceding states personally opposed slavery but supported the effort to get out from under the oppressive thumb of the north and be able to enjoy liberty and self determination.

Certainly many in the north didn't have strong feelings about slavery one way or the other or even condoned it--Lincoln did not free the slaves in the northern states but only those in the seceding states. It is also certain that many did not have any intention of black people becoming full citizens of the USA. Abraham Lincoln certainly didn't. He hoped to ship most out of the country once the war was over. That does not make him an evil man but simply one conditioned by the culture he lived in.

But even those in the north who were not interested in slavery one way or the other fought in the war to preserve the union.

There were moments of glory, Christian grace and magnanimous acts on both sides. And acts of pure evil on both sides.

Through it all the vast majority, including the majority of black slaves, were Christian.

The South did not start the war. That is the myth sold to us all by the North. Matter of fact Lincoln invaded VA to start the war and they were not involved at all in Ft. Sumter.

The South's intentions were to shift away from the North to keep owning slaves.

that would be the christian bible belt for slave ownership and the title of the thread doing so as a christian nation.

frt sumter was a disguised blessing the same for their choice of trump bringing to the surface the turmoil they have thrived on since the heavenly decade of renewal the 60's and will bring their duplicity to an accelerated conclusion - the crucifiers.

President Trump usually knows what he is doing even when his methods seem to be unorthodox or even contradictory to the goal.

you can't be serious ....

The U.S. and Ukraine are near a deal to hand valuable mineral rights to the U.S., an agreement the Trump administration has sought as compensation for military aid to fight off Russia's invasion ...

such is the spirit ...

of the depraved highwayman - trump.

they disappear, likely going to yet another church, rinse and repeat

Given that there are around 5,000 different Xtian denominations… sounds like a viable strategy.

That's OK.

I love to debate,

In a way we both have that habit.

I do not originate from the South at all. It took me a very long time to go to where it happened to study it first hand. I have books about this. I plan to open them to see what England could do. But it did nothing as you well know.
The Queen gave the South's cause thumbs down.

Here's why:

7 Reasons Why Britain Abolished Slavery | History Hit

The United Kingdom passed the Slavery Abolition Act in 1833, which outlawed slavery in most of its colonies. The act took effect on August 1, 1834.

I am 100% serious and the track record backs me up very very well.

- serious trump has an obligation to require ukraine to sign over their mineral rights ...

an agreement the Trump administration has sought as compensation for military aid to fight off Russia's invasion ...

to those having nothing to do with the military aid given to the ukrainians to defend themselves against the likes of a tyrant as putin ...

trump is nothing but a common swindler. at least some americans will lend a hose to put out a fire - obviously not ff without a price.

Trump is offering Zelensky security and protection in return for those minerals. Trump puts America first and expects those who receive our help to do their fair share. If you call that swindling, I sure as hell don't want you working for me or with me on anything.

for who is willing to help their neighbor in need ...

some would rather chose the viper.
So it seems you are smart enough to be embarrassed about stating who you voted for, but I wonder if you are able to explain voting for this: (it will allow a judgement on your Trump opinion)......

  • Contrary to the term itself, Kamala has stated that illegal aliens are not criminals
  • She has stated that she wishes to decriminalize illegally crossing the border, similar to the way Democrats have decriminalized shoplifting.
  • She has argued against, not the death penalty, just the death penalty for cop killers
  • She favors defunding the police
  • She authored a fund to bail out domestic terrorists, called the Minnesota Freedom Fund.
  • Joining Communist Bernie Sanders in “Medicare For All,” in which she argues for all private health insurance. BTW, some 220 million Americans have private health insurance, 65% of the population
  • Kamala plans to include all the illegals in the Medicare plan
  • Eliminate and ban all fracking which produces 64% of the total crude oil produced in the United States in 2023.
  • She supported a law which bans arrests for shoplifting under $950.
  • She supports indicting Israel for war crimes against Hamas
  • Believes in banning internal combustion engines, allowing only electric vehicles.
  • As Attn’y General, her office supported Prop 57 that put rapists and murders back on the street after serving a fraction of their sentence
  • Supported a state law that keeps parents from knowing about the indoctrination of their children toward gender transition
  • When the nation was wracked by Democrat-fueled George Floyd riots Kamala said the riots should not stop:

“As a U.S. senator from California from 2017 to 2021, she had a more leftist voting record even than socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vermont independent.” Harris had a more leftist voting record in Senate than Sanders

Kamala wrote “Trump supports a national abortion ban.” Of course that is a lie. Kamala Harris na Instagramie : "Donald Trump supports a national abortion ban. President @JoeBiden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women's reproductive freedom."

Kamala was the deciding vote on the $1.9T American Rescue Plan that caused this inflation. Now prices are up nearly 30%.

Trump puts America first and expects those who receive our help to do their fair share.

they have given their lives ... its never been your help, trump hasn't lifted a finger for anyone.

Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's” is a quote from the Bible that appears in Matthew 22, Mark 12, and Luke 20.

never spoken by jesus - the state religion of the roman empire - words spoken by the crucifiers.

Did jesus ever encourage His followers to become Caesar?

there are no things that are caesar's for them to give to him is as corrupt as any of the forgeries and fallacies found on nearly every page of the 4th century christian bible, desert religions.

Can we just say your opinion about Trump is simply laughable?

I must admit that I am kinda sensitive about folks who tried to destroy my country.

You are perhaps the most intelligent woman on this forum along with Foxfyre. I also love to debate. But we need a finish point.
