i said this over at the what are you listening to thread but i will say it here again cause it cant be said enough regarding laura branigan.

as carson and mcmahon said so well in their interview with her,she had such a shyness vulnerablity about her when she spoke that made you just want to reach out and hug her.

she is about the only female pop star i know of who got so much into her songs, when she sang Tiamo which is based on a true life experience she had with a man who dumped her,she starts crying when she would sing it,watch the videos and her interviews with carson and mahonam back then folks you'll see what i mean on her shyness vulnerablity carson and mcmahon mentioned when she talks and how she crys when she sings the song Tiama..:)

incredibly hard to believe that there was actually a man out there so cruel and such a jerk to her that just dumped her and left her,god had i been fortunate enough to have known her as he did,i would have worshipped the ground she walked on and been her slave, seriously,

hardly ANY of her songs DONT give me goosebumps,Im serious.I dont know of any female pop star that had that affect on me,a couple or so like pat benatar and stevie nicks who are ALSO incredibly amazing but not EVERY song. :)

she had the MOST AMAZING smile of anybody on the planet, her smile just would melt my heart.I always when i watched her liked to pretend she she was singing JUST TO ME. RIP.

Sometimes women do fantastic things, but don't receive as much noteriety as men. Name those whom you admire, and post videos of them playing at least 2 musical instruments. You have 95 years of audio/video recordings to choose from.

Here are some available choices, but feel free to add your own >>>
  • Meredith Monk
  • Alice Coltrane
  • Jayne Mansfield
  • Joni Mitchell
  • Esperanza Spalding
  • Karen Carpenter
  • Régine Chassagne
  • PJ Harvey
  • Taylor Swift
  • Dolly Parton
  • Sarah McLachlan
I have to buck the premise a bit.

I'd put Dolly Parton at the top of the list, and I've never seen her play anything but guitar - other than voice. I'd put Deborah Harry second, and I've never seen her play any intrument other than voice.

Taylor Swift.
Not because she has musical talent, although she clearly does.
But because I just think she's smokin' hot. :icon_lol:

Hey, so sue me! I'm a guy! :deal:

Looks like USMB posters just don't know of any female musicians who play 2 or more instruments (well).

Despite that this thread has been DERAILED to shreds, by practically everyone posting in it, I'll still refer posters to Post #s 3 & 12, as an example of how to post in this thread, and be ON TOPIC.

Why do they have yo play a musical instrument?

Diana Krall. Have seen her in concert in several venues in different parts of the world numerous times.

She has an excellent group of supporting musicians, and does many classic jazz standards very well.
