What female musicians do you admire ?

Off topic (as are almost all the posts so far.

Besides the fiddle, Alison Krauss also knows the mandolin. :) :) :)

God bless you and the angel and her friends always!!!

Holly (a fan of her since 1994)

P.S. The early 90s I believe is when this performance was done.

Sometimes women do fantastic things, but don't receive as much noteriety as men. Name those whom you admire, and post videos of them playing at least 2 musical instruments. You have 95 years of audio/video recordings to choose from.

Here are some available choices, but feel free to add your own >>>
  • Meredith Monk
  • Alice Coltrane
  • Jayne Mansfield
  • Joni Mitchell
  • Esperanza Spalding
  • Karen Carpenter
  • Régine Chassagne
  • PJ Harvey
  • Taylor Swift
  • Dolly Parton
  • Sarah McLachlan

Diana Damrau. What pipes.

Actually, women are generally more known for their voices and singing talent than playing a musical instrument like guitar or drums. Their best field is probably in the stringed instrument like violin or piano though there have been exceptions.

Barbara Streisand had a killer voice. I have her second album.

Carla Bley is another female musician that comes to mind, as does Kate Pierson.

I play both the fiddle/violin and the mandolin. They are almost the same instrument. Same tuning, same finger patterns. But Allison Krauss is a fine musician - a bit overrated, but good nonetheless.

What 2 instruments does she play ?

My very favorite current musician does play 2 instruments, but I'm not at all sure why this is the requirement. Seems arbitrary when you have a great like Clara Schumann--a piano virtuoso who also composed. Like did she have to also pick at a violin to meet the requirement?
