I'm hoping we'll wise up before it comes to that.

Same here, although I guess one of the only benefits to that scenario would be that it would reset priorities again. The decadence of the West has led to society losing any sense of perspective. People act like America is the most racist country, for example, while completely ignoring how much worse racism is in a lot of the rest of the world.

When society is reduced back down to the basics, people remember what's actually important again.
