Specifically, what terms do you think Ukraine and the Soviets will agree to?
Why do you think each side will agree to those terms?
How do we get to that point?

If you cannot help but include some derision of Trump in your response, you aren't ready to discuss the topic rationally.

Your question implies a negotiated agreement .
I doubt that will occur .

Kyiv will be told What to do , Where and When, although Moscow might try and make it seem as palatable as possible .

Moscow might well produce something to appease the US in less important areas , but only with a longer term view to making the next ME theatre production as useful to the other as is realistically possible .

Ukraine needs to get rid of Zelensky and elect a real leader.

Crimea, we let Russia have her. Trump made that concession in his first term. And on the ground, it seems the proper thing to do. But there can be no other territorial concessions. The problem is Hegseth has already opened the door to more territorial concessions. Putin smells blood. Not good.

Ukraine will not be a part of NATO, not for at least twenty years. But, the Budapest agreement will be honored going forward. Use this ceasefire to regroup and rearm, violate the sanctity of Ukraine's borders, and hell hath no fury. We will be all in from day one. Domestically, we implement the draft, women and men. Sure, college deferral, but your GPA falls under 2.0 you go in the lottery..

The draftees go through basic, then they are deployed, environmentally, like the CCC. And yes, part of their paycheck goes back home, to Mom and Dad. Unless they have a wife, then damn near all of it goes back home. We position this nation like it was positioned prior to WWII. Make no mistake about it, you MAGA by bringing America to the front of the international stage. That is not going to come without pain and sacrifice.

It looks like Tenpercentskyy six feet under.

He's the only asshole keeping the whole mess going.

If Hillary had been the Secretary of State now, Zelensky would have gotten a bayonet up his ass like Gaddafi.

Obama made that concession back in 2014.

it’s honestly still not clear to me what they were trying to do. putin made it VERY clear that ukraine joining NATO was a hard red line, a line not to be even approached, much less crossed. yet the US was suddenly making it a priority. why? it made no sense. what US interest would be served by setting off a flashpoint like that? what security or economic goals were served?

unless we were trying to start a war, we did not need it.

a truly cynical cat might posit something like this:

Ukraine has virtually no choice but to accept territorial concessions - short of US troops pushing Russian troops back to the border, nothing can force Russia to withdraw.

Ukraine has every reason to demand security guarantees - but what will guarantee the Russians do not come back?
Membership into NATO. Nothing else. You invade again, all of the west goes to war with you.

Of course, there's no guarantee NATO will want the commitment.
There;s no guarantee the US will want the commitment.
