Here in Miss, I don't think there's a decision yet. The STATE LEGISLATURE had an outbreak, with some including the Lt. Gov and Speaker of the House testing positive … so they adjourned and left for home (how crazy is that? LOL)

My niece who is a grd sch teacher in colo expects 26 in her class room. she's resigned to getting sick. (I didn't ask where the school will get substitutes. ) and my niece wasn't sure how the school would accommodate special stuff like OP and OT and reading specialists.

Trump's comparisons to other countries' schools opening is priceless. Since they actually had tests early on, did contact tracing, and had a functioning fed govt to ensure all communities followed the same procedures.

Exactly. Trump continues to shoot himself. I don't know if it's because Javanka and the one and a half sons educate their children in a different socioecon reality than the rest of us, even thouse who use large private/indep schools, or if it's because Trump no longer has the ability to consider a reality that is not one of a sociopath.

We all want schools open. Even me, who has no kid left at home and no grand kid. It's inconvenient for me to have co-workers at home. And god knows parents don't want kids home (unless they are already nuts who homeschool). But, if a community still has covid out of control with no effective testing scheme to identify and isolate, a neighbor's kid will give it to your kid A, and A will come home and give it to B, and then Grandmother or Kid C who has a pre-existing will DIE.

Of course schools want to reopen. And not just because parents want them to, and their own self-interest . Educators become educators because they want kids to learn. Trying to teach via the internet has to be a pain and less effective.

As you posted, Trump politically continues to DAILY hurt himself politically. He's living in a reality where he believes educators would prefer not only to annoy parents, who will complain and make the teachers' lives less pleasant, but also hurt their students than see him reelected.
