Actually he can. He can shut off federal aid.As with shutting down and opening up services in states, Trump has about....NOTHING to say about it.
He can bombast and shout from the top of his lungs, thereby throwing the necessary red meat to his ever shrinking base
But in the end, there is little he can do about it.
It has become clear that arbitrarily opening dense social contacts increases the spread of the virus. What has become clear of late is how the Wuhan Virus is not nearly as lethal as previous thought it might be. Especially for those under age 50, even less dangerous for students.
If the West and capitalism is going to survive, we simply have to go on about our way. Is the end goal of some to basically have everything State Owned?
Normalcy is demanded of free citizens. The science is out there now, we know the risks. The silence and even cheering on of the protests by MSM destroyed their "Covid-19 will kill you!" narrative.
Yes, it's dangerous. We all know who is most susceptible now.

Exactly. Trump continues to shoot himself. I don't know if it's because Javanka and the one and a half sons educate their children in a different socioecon reality than the rest of us, even thouse who use large private/indep schools, or if it's because Trump no longer has the ability to consider a reality that is not one of a sociopath.Trump: Unless you are willing to risk a COVID infection Spike, you will lose Federal Funding.
Good strategy in an election year
and here they split classes to ensure social distancing, alternating stay at home and presence. so not at all business as usual.yeah, I shouldn't have put the thread in satire. It's real.
Here in Miss, I don't think there's a decision yet. The STATE LEGISLATURE had an outbreak, with some including the Lt. Gov and Speaker of the House testing positive … so they adjourned and left for home (how crazy is that? LOL)
My niece who is a grd sch teacher in colo expects 26 in her class room. she's resigned to getting sick. (I didn't ask where the school will get substitutes. ) and my niece wasn't sure how the school would accommodate special stuff like OP and OT and reading specialists.
Trump's comparisons to other countries' schools opening is priceless. Since they actually had tests early on, did contact tracing, and had a functioning fed govt to ensure all communities followed the same procedures.
Of course schools want to reopen. And not just because parents want them to, and their own self-interest . Educators become educators because they want kids to learn. Trying to teach via the internet has to be a pain and less effective.I think most schools WANT to open in the Fall.
But for our president to threaten those that face unsafe conditions for students and staff is irresponsible.
I don't think so. Kids have much more robust innate immune systems than adults due primarily to their abundance of bone marrow. And that seems to be protecting them from getting sick with COVID-19.Kids going to school and then bringing the virus home will lead to more cases.
