I deleted my posts. Sorry. I didn’t have much to say.
I don’t know the band members. I only heard them on the radio so I don’t have a favorite. I love the lead singer’s voice, so maybe him. I told Jantje I had Duran Duran on my mind because you prompted me to find their most popular songs. I realized then that I was really a fan.
My husband was a great drummer. He would impress everyone by drumming with one hand like def leppard’s drummer and would often get invited by bands to come up and play a round.. well known and he played all music types. RIP
Congratulations to the Duke for his acute insight. Nothing gets past him either.
I believe it was Joseph Campbell that said songs of today are like myths of the ancients which were guidance to the young ones. The 70s brought a lot of that. The 80’s gave us fun, self expression, and every now and then inspiration. I see what you mean about your song. Mathew wilder gave me my motto

Drums are not easy to master, i like listening to a good drummer, not of the Rock era but Buddy Rich was great, Billy Cobham great drummer he worked with the Deodato band which i have been a fan of since the 70s.
That was awesome! I’ve never seen that one. Deodato? Never heard of them. Play a popular song.
My deceased husband started as a child. He was head drummer in high school and college after military service. And he joined bands. His idols were Rich and Krupa. He was Rich with a lot of cymbal and more Krupa with a lot of cymbal. When he died I placed his drums at the end of the driveway, and just as I hoped a teen came by to pick up his new love. The electronic drum set went to another young man.
This was an epic battle between them.
Great stuff, Deodato a Brazilian, at the time a mate of mine put me onto him he said you have to listen to this guy, and he was right, i bought every Album all through the 70s, the first i bought was called Prelude, he had session guys working with him including Billy Cobham drummer, his music is a fusion jazz rock latin with some Classical thrown in.
I know that one!!!! I learned to love jazz along the way. The live version there is outrageously good. Great percussion and that is one animated drummer.
This was a staple at one point. Timeless. Go to 4:39 for the drum solo. It’s a musicians dream to play this.
Brubeck take five great sound, a track on the album by deodato first Cuckoo, Caravan/Watusi Strut, great drumming by Steve Gadd, long track but you may enjoy the drumming when you have time, another great player on guitar on several Deodato albums was the American guitarist John Tropea
A track in there. Wow!
Those names are so familiar. I have no doubt that it was in our collection. The drumming is insane. It’s so tribal.. grass skirt shaking kinda dance to go with that
Ever heard of Chickcorea? We saw him in concert. I remember owning the Flamenco album. This drummer is so fast. Mine could play it but not quite so fast..
