Matthew 7:13-14
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Why did Jesus teach this? Because he is God and knows the end from the beginning and knows what choices people will make with their free will. He knows that many are lovers of darkness rather than lovers of light. Jesus cannot force us to be good beings because we could never be a good being by being forced to be so. We would only be robots. But if we choose in and of ourselves to be good beings, then we truly become good beings in and of ourselves. Jesus taught that in my fathers house are many mansions. The kingdom of God is not a strictly heaven or hell proposition. But the highest degree in the kingdom of heaven is what God wishes all of us to achieve. However, knowing the future and what choices we will make with our own free will, God knows that we will not all choose to enter the kingdom of heaven. Some will choose the lowest degree in the afterlife which is the lake of fire and brimstone, aka outer darkness, or hell. Jesus knew Judas would betray him before he did. It is due to God giving us free will and also due to him having foreknowledge of the choices we will make. He has relayed this information to his church.
wow.. nihil obstat

(nothing obstructing [God's revealed Truth])

meaning I didn't find anything in this that is heresy

Because it’s the truth.
LOL

Well, that should go w/o saying. However, I've noticed that things once accepted as logical and true and complicit with common sense
are no longer seen as such these days.

It is logical that a Holy God who hates sin would reject those who practice it, and reject them eternally. What is vile cannot be allowed into a pure and spotless holy place like Heaven where God himself dwells. THAT is logic. That is common sense. But then you have these heretics who act like everyone goes to Heaven. Some even say Satan will end up there! No, that vile creature is not going there. I hope people who say that about Satan are not basing that weird belief on Scripture bc the bible says nothing about Satan being redeemed, nothing, absolutely nothing! But as you say, Protestants make up stuff (or something to that effect)

Was earthly Jesus "good"?

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked him. "Nobody is good except for one—God
Let's take a look at the entire salutation which is, "Good teacher...." Why did the rich young man call him a good teacher? Was it because good teaching comes from God alone. Did the young man call him a good teacher because he recognized Jesus teaching was from God? Or, was he offering flattery?

Next Jesus returns to the (good) teachings of God, the Commandments, and the young man says he has kept all these since his youth. The young man points out that he has been good, keeping God's good Commandments. Then notice what Jesus does. He pushes the young man beyond the good of the Commandments and tells him to give what he has to the poor.

In other words, being good is not just about keeping Commandments. It is giving all we have, all we are. God has given us all He has, and in this only God is fully good.

Now let's return to Jewish belief. Jews who do believe in the afterlife, use the Commandments as the standard for good. Therefore their belief that non-Jews who kept the Noachide Laws/Commandments are good and will have an afterlife. Those who are not Jews may have a different view of who attains an afterlife.

Get thee behind me Satan

Your world is not biblical -- or even Catholic

But THIS is how the man responded to the call:
At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth

He was offering the man exactly what He offered the early Church

So much biblical nonsense/error in every sentence you write.

"The Jews" (as a group) have REJECTED THE ONLY WAY to Salvation AT THIS TIME.

Your need to appease and appeal to every religion as an alternate "way" is un biblical and even un Catholic. Your false "teachings" are, quite honestly, vile.

Your world is not biblical -- or even Catholic
Obviously, you have never been to a Catholic Bible Study. We get right down to the nitty gritty of "good teacher" while you toss 'teacher' by the wayside. We talk about the Word (you do accept Jesus is the Word?) because teaching involves words. Good Word....and it never occurred to your Bible Study group that Jesus may have been asking the young man if he recognized the Word (Jesus) spoke was from God?!

You and/or your group never caught the idea that a Jewish young man who steadfastly followed the Law may have considered himself a pretty good person...but still recognized something was missing?

Speaking of missing...are you positive it's not your world where Biblical understanding may be missing?

Who was this rich young man? While he went away sad that day...that day was not the end of his life. What happened next? Since you are not Catholic, you probably never looked into this. Did the young man change his mind? Did he start giving more extensively? Did he become one of the early Christians?

St. Mark, the writer of the Gospel, came from a wealthy family. It is mentioned somewhere in Acts that Christians met in his mother's large house. Peter went there when he was released from prison.

Mark's account of the meeting between Jesus and the rich young man says this, "Jesus looked at him with love."

Could it be Mark, himself, was that rich young man? If so, then Mark did take Jesus up on his offer, wouldn't you agree?

What alternate way am I "teaching"? I presented a Jewish teaching as I understand it. If I got what Jews teach wrong, please enlighten us as to what Jews actually do teach.

You forgot to quote the Bible verse that says that Jews rejected the only way to salvation at this time.

Mark 6:1-6

King James Version

6 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

they are a religion of apartheid - much the same as the other desert religions including factions as the rcc - their false catechisms of servitude.
