What are the chances that a Tax Reform bill will become law?

That is, will a tax reform bill become law BEFORE the end of this year?

Trump is demanding a draft of such a bill before Thanksgiving......Can this happen in just about a month's time?

Will there be hearings? Will there be a CBO estimate? How will Wall Street react?

So many questions......

Republicans seem to be operating on arbitrary deadlines

Need a healthcare plan in three weeks? No problem
Need a comprehensive tax overhaul by Thanksgiving? Here you go

Problem is the legislation is not vetted through members of either party. It is not sold to the public beforehand. There is no CBO scoring

Then when the legislation fails they shoot the messenger

If the GOP can't come up with something and get it signed into law, they should just all go home and plan for their next jobs.

You would think that they realize this, but I'm not so sure. Who knows what's going on in their heads.

So far, the only thing they've demonstrated is an abject inability to govern as a party.

The liberals are actually finally waking up why President Trump is in office and why We the People want the swamp drained. There is hope for each of you libs...

Whatever tax bill might be passed, it will have nothing to do with ‘reform.’

‘Reform’ implies positive, beneficial change – any legislation the GOP comes up with will be the same failed, wrongheaded policies, neither positive nor beneficial.

Don’t be surprised if there’s little in the way of hearings and open public debate, a ‘plan’ contrived in secret behind closed doors.

As for timing, something will need to happen soon, not too far into an election year, when no one is paying attention.

Nice use of Goebbels.

I think the GOP as forgotten how to legislate
The process involves careful planning and compromise, something no longer in the GOP toolbox

In order to pass tax reform you need to appease both those wanting taxes slashed to the bone and those who want it to be deficit neutral

Sure, the very "best" way to drain the swamp, is to appoint to your cabinet Wall Street millionaires to look out for the middle class, correct, nitwit???

Well, all of the above under the "leadership" by the self-proclaimed "BEST NEGOTIATOR THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN".......LOL

The GOP Obamacare reform bills were heavily compromised. But, the GOP couldn't pass them because Democrats wouldn't compromise one bit. The party who wants the status quo is under no pressure to compromise.

Another reason the GOP has trouble passing bills is that GOP bills tend to be anti-middle class. The GOP health bill did nothing to make medical care more affordable to the middle-class. This GOP tax reform bill is basically just a tax cut for the rich, which means the middle-class will have to pick up the slack.

If the middle class receives ONLY crumbs from tax reductions, there will be NO job growth and NO raising of wages since only the middle-class reinvests in goods and services through their tax exemptions.

The deadlines are self-imposed to avoid as much critique as possible, but it seems obvious that we're talking about a bill that will blow up the debt 3-5 trillion, and leave our kids with the debt so the top 1%, and to a lesser extent the next 9%, get the cash. Will they get 50 votes? I don't know. Probably Rand Paul and Corker are nays.

Well, Trump's new budget would add $1.5 trillion to the national debt. Even the GOP admits it. Where is the Tea Party when we really need them? Oh, well. It must be that Trump supporters have suddenly changed their mind about vilifying Obama for debt increases during his presidency. Actually, we know that that isn't true. it is just that GOP lives in an alternative universe in which up is down, until it turns over, and down is up....

As usual, GOP legislation does nothing for the middle class
They claim there will be a tax cut but then take away middle class deductions like State and local taxes

The tax bill blatantly adds to the deficit, something Republicans swore they would never do

It is sort of interesting. The tea party supposedly was against all deficit. Corker is in a sense an original "tea partiest." LOL And you're right that today's anti-establishment gop insurgency seems to not care about deficits, and even views them as did the pre-Bill Clinton dem party. Go figure.

Ah but Trump never promised that, but then he is not really a republican. LOL

Is there another Republican who will balk at $1.5 trillion debt?

It is a brilliant concept, you have to admit. I pay taxes on my purchase, like a new car, , and now, the GOP want to tax my paid taxes again! Somehow, this does not seem to bother the GOP....
