I understand the effort to marginalize Trump by Hillary supporters, but somewhat mystified by that same effort by many people who opposed to Hillary. To me, Trump would be the best candidate to defeat her by addressing her principal weakness: dishonesty.
My greatest concern is that any of the other GOP candidates would fall victim to Hillary's structural advantages among women and minorities. I believe that the current "match up" polls are worthless, reflecting nothing more than the 24/7 deluge of anti-Trump propaganda while giving the other candidates a free pass.
Once the real campaign begins, all of the gloves will be taken off. Cruz would be stereotyped as a Right Wing/evangelical zealot, while Kasich (or some other "moderate") would run a lackluster campaign that would depend on external events to have any chance at winning the election.
On the other hand, Trump's ability to talk over the MSM would provide a daily reminder that "Crooked Hillary" is the most corrupt Presidential candidate in our history. This would not only bring in millions of new voters for Trump, but also instill doubt in her trustworthiness among the groups she unashamedly panders to.
