I don't really know what your politics is but you are a good add to this board. I have only been reading you for a couple of days now.
But your style is civil but solid so that IS a good sign. The BEST debates the best threads are done by HONEST people. We have liberals here I disagree with but respect.

There WAS a day went that meant something. NATIONAL pride was more then an idea a concept it was a FACT, it was a practice. But it has been slowly stripped away and discarded by political hobo's. I know I am not wrong in remembering this, because it was a part of everyday life.

There is no advancement under socialist government because that form of government is designed to be stable and never changing. Under a communist government {USSR} the government builds cars and the design hardly ever changes. MOST socialist countries don't even build cars of their own design.
Canada builds cars for Ford/GM/Dodge/Toyota and Honda. All designed in other countries by other people. Canada builds the Winnebago on an American truck platform. They simply do not design/build their own platforms They have outsourced their tech just as American has outsourced its labor.
There WAS a time when all countries displayed their best. German steel was number one. Russian ship building was the best and America built cars for anywhere in the world on any budget and could handle any road.
National pride. The Russians have re-found theirs in a fellow named Putin. Germany struggles right now to find its and in November the world will watch to see IF America has found hers. We are no more the leader of the free world today then Mexico. Germany is no more Europe's free world leader then Greece.
National pride is the ONLY thing that puts you there because with national pride comes ideas and sweat. Hillary has no national pride and never has. The world has seen and suffered at the lack of Obama. Germany is fast falling into chaos because of its leaders HATE for its people. We in this country have a FLOTUS on record with her hate for our way. Just how stupid was that?
So what makes me think we can make America great again? Because we ARE Americans and that just IS what we do...

Excellent piece, Fury. It is so easy to become disappointed when we see the direction our country is taking. Many of us feel it. And, to think we could have a POTUS that is a socialist or one that has less integrity than a common thief, one just wants to shake their head and take a deep sigh.
But as you said, We are Americans and we have to believe that our citizens and immigrants can work together to make this country the leader of the free world, with jobs for all that want one, where we live in harmony again. It's not too hard if we remember for the most part, we are all Americans and want the best for every man, woman and child. Can we do it? Yes? Is there something more important than Democrat or Republican? Yes. This election, let's find a candidate who can bring us together and work for the greatness of this country!

We seem to have almost nothing but dividers running for president.
We do have one candidate who has the proven ability bring people together. His history shows he knows how to work both sides of the aisle and he was re-elected with votes from the other side of the aisle. He has bipartisan popularity.
Poll after poll after poll shows that a huge majority of Americans, from the right, from the left and from the center, want our president and congress to work in a bipartisan manner and actually get things done. This country has a lot of problems. Unfortunately, we have hyper-partisan children running our government, who stomp their feet, go into the name calling mode and refuse to deliver legislations that positively benefits ALL Americans. These "party first" politicians are going against the will of 70% of Americans!
Electing John Kasich, would be a giant step in the right direction.

I like Kasich, too. I think you are on the right track! He has done it in Ohio. I am hoping that Tuesday he has legs and will be in the top three.!
Let me interject please----------> National pride comes from the greatest opportunity on the planet to improve your life, no matter who you are. People do not want in America to be worse off, they want in to be better off.
The main reason it is sooooo hard to stop the political sniping is------------> nobody is willing to admit that BOTH sets of ideas put forth allow gains, and losses. It is also hard when they continue to protect Presidents who screwed the pooch that were "their guy," and attack other Presidents who did very well, but were NOT "their guy!"

The real answer is............GW Bush; and yet, you would never know it. Most would say Obama or Clinton, but nothing could be further from truth! GW pushed us down this road with his spending, his prescription program, his compassionate conservatism, and a host of other societal "adjustments" he made. A true conservative would have demanded vouchers for every kid in America. Instead, he gave us no child left behind, which has also been a boondogle. All Obama did was continue in the direction that GW started, most apparent in domestic policy.
So the actual truth is, Presidents should NOT be protected by the citizens by party, they should be protected by policies, and outcome. Look at it this way-----------> If Gw could run again for President, and he ran against a re-incarnated JFK, who would you vote for? Me, JFK each, and every time!
Conversely, if Reagan came back to life, and could run against Jimmy Carter again, who would you vote for? Reagan, every time! (in fact, 1/3 of the Democrats did exactly that twice)
So, to call a truce, we all have to admit that some of our guys stunk it out, and some of their guys did a pretty good job! If we do that, then yes, we can take the good things they all had, and mold them into something that could actually work for everyone. But, if we are not willing to admit the truth of history, then what makes any of us think we can agree upon a course for the future!
And then, you have the heavily partisan people and both party's, who will never admit that the other side did something good, at anytime. They want it "their way, or the highway." You can always tell these people who will attack Clintons economic performance, or Reagans. They refuse to allow any nice words about the other side to leave their lips. They re-write history to fit their narrative, and any history they can't re-write, they ignore. Both sides do it! That is how they keep their backers on the reservation.
