Tennessee has officially declared June to be “Nuclear Family Month” in what has been taken as a war on LGBTQ Pride.

Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed a resolution last week for the new month-long celebration of the traditional family unit, which it defines as “one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children.”

The nuclear family “is God’s perfect design for humanity and is aligned with the long-held traditional values of Tennessee,” states the resolution, which passed through both chambers of the lower Republican-controlled state legislature.

“The nuclear family is under attack in our beloved State and nation, and it is our responsibility to uplift, protect, and support values that help Tennessee prosper,” the legislation says.

GLAAD, one of the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy groups, blasted the state’s decision not to recognize Pride Month, which is every June.

The resolution is not binding and LGBTQ Tennesseans can still celebrate Pride and fly related flags.

A new Tennessee law declaring June as 'Nuclear Family Month' - and not Pride Month - has sparked outrage.



Governor Bill Lee signed the controversial resolution on April 9, just two days after it was sent to his desk, following passage through both chambers of the Republican-controlled state legislature.



It defines the family unit as comprising 'one husband, one wife and any biological, adopted or fostered children' and describes the nuclear family as 'God's design for familial structure' and 'God's perfect design for humanity.'



The resolution, first proposed last year, also calls the nuclear family the 'basic building block of Tennessee's society throughout her formative years,' saying it has 'built the United States of America and created prosperity within our nation.'



It goes on to cite claims about fatherless households, including links to higher rates of poverty, substance abuse, incarceration and school shootings, to argue for the superiority of the traditional family.





However, studies have shown that once factors such as income and household stability are accounted for, the independent effects of father absence are significantly smaller.



The resolution further denounces the 'humanistic, globalist ideologies' of the World Health Organization, the United Nations and other 'like-minded organizations that fight for population control through the means of promoting sterilization and abortion practices.'



It argues that the nuclear family is 'under attack' and that it is the state's responsibility to 'uplift, protect and support values that help Tennessee.'

Govenor Lee is a tool....Zero independant brains to start with. This legislation is nothing more than a little something to appease voters at election time.

Tennessee is a red state...Memphis and Downtown Nashville are blue (so is MTSU)
Otherwise Nashville is surrounded by some of the boldest and strongest red counties in America. Every large religious group's publishing house is in Nashville (except for LDS & JW) even the Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Catholics, Baptists, 7th Day Adventists, and Church of Christ (but in a different section)

Nashville prints and always has printed more bibles and religious literature than they do/did daily newspapers.
