We need to change the Statue of Liberty.....

Here is the inscription that is at the base of the Statue of Liberty....................

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door
!"

The New Colossus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The New Colossus" is a sonnet by American poet Emma Lazarus (1849–87), written in 1883.[2] In 1903, the poem was engraved on a bronze plaque and mounted inside the lower level of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

Now................these refugee kids that are currently flooding the border certainly sound like what the statue (and our country) are supposed to stand for. These kids are poor, huddled and fleeing violence and murder in their own country. President Bush Jr. signed a LAW into effect in 2008 that covered situations like this, and it was for kids from any country that did not border the United States.

Sorry...................but if we can't allow these kids to stay, we're going to have to do one of 2 things, either (a) take down the plaque on the front of the Statue of Liberty, or (b) admit that we've gone so far away from our core values that we've become a nation of hypocrites.

The Statue of Liberty was a gift buy a bunch of Frenchies. I certainly never agreed with the sentiment expressed on its based, and I didn't have anything to do with it being put in New York harbor.

BTW.........................unless you're a Native American, someone in your family had to emigrate to this country in the past 300 years.

Yeah, and they either had to find a job and start working or they starved to death. There was no welfare state to prop them up with other people's money. Big difference from today. 21st century Americans have no clue what hard work is.

You're right.......................if they didn't listen to the Native Americans, they would starve to death.

The big money and the welfare state didn't start in 1776, it started much later when the people of this country got pissed at the robber barons in the late 1800's.

Matter of fact, the days of yore (like in the good old days) that the GOP has yearned for were in the 1950's, to 1970's.

That was during the time of the unions.

The welfare state didn't start until FDR passed Social Security, numskull.

You're right.......................it might work better as eat free.

However..........................we still have a responsibility for those under our roof.

Not only should they breathe free as you said, but they should have a right to eat free so that they can help this country be better.

Nobody functions well on an empty stomach.
An empty stomach is the best motivator, but that is something that doesn't sit well with the parasitic classes and those who champion them.

Nope..............thirst is a much bigger motivator.

An empty stomach may motivate most to a certain degree, but you can't really think if you're hungry.

Ask any military man who has been on the front lines (like me).

It doesn't matter what motivates them. They're illegal, and they don't belong here.

This certainly puts those before us in US history in their place. And we can ditch all US cities, counties and other locations named Lafayette I gather.:lol::lol::lol:

You're right.............the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France.

I'm wondering what your own forefathers and foremothers thought when they first saw that statue and read the inscription when they came to this country.

However............if you're Native American (and can tell me from what tribe) you can ignore the previous question.

If not..............how would YOU feel if your ancestors were vilified like they do the current crop of immigrants?

I'm guessing you're neither Irish nor are you Asian.

Tell that to Hawaiians

Really? Do you understand when Hawaii became a state?

It was around 1950, which is much later than most of the States.

Hawaii (Listeni/həˈwaɪ.iː/ or /həˈwaɪʔiː/; Hawaiian: Hawaiʻi [hɐˈvɐiʔi]) is the most recent of the 50 U.S. states and joined the Union on August 21, 1959. It is the only U.S. state located in Oceania and the only one made up entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean.

Yes, that's true.
Statehood came a long time after Americans invaded, colonised, removed the queen from power and allowed only illegal immigrants to vote in the election to join the united states, eventually becoming statehood.

As soon as America becomes majority hispanic, they will stop coming

Are you sure about that Tank?

I think that when America becomes majority Hispanic, they might come in even bigger masses.

Tank is right.

If the United States ever becomes majority Hispanic, it will be like all the Hispanic countries the invaders/illegals come from: Corrupt, broke, poor, run by drug cartels, disrespected thru the world, recognized as free loaders and loyal followers of such shining examples of Hispanic world leaders Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.

Even they would be smart enough that it's not worth jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Most people like you had nothing to do with the formation of this country.

In fact? They were fighting it. They wanted to remain loyal to the King.

Well no..Tank is not right.

Seems that Europeans have a hankering for all things Hispanic.

As the names of many of the "United States" bears out.

Think "Arizona, California, Montana, Florida, Utah, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado" are English?

How about Puerto Rico?

Does Utah sound Spanish to you? You do know that very few state name are actually founded on English I trust.

You are right. I was in the Navy, served on many front lines (no less than 4 war zones) and yep, you're right, I was scared to go to the USO.

Why? Simple...................I thought that by living I could do more to help this country by doing my job.

Sorry..............but being blown up in a USO because somebody didn't like Reagan was a good enough reason for me to avoid them.

Quick question..............how many years did YOU serve? Me? I did around 21.

Mad Scientist;9455176]Who was here before them?

DinosaursPlantsBacteriaAliensGod

Dem dere Mexicans and Indians gotta' get in line! :D

You forgot about the Kinniwick Man who was here 10,000 years BEFORE the so-called NA. There are also Welsh temples in GA that pre-date the red skins.

OOPS!

Those words are not official U.S. policy by the way.

Anyway, this is not 1886 (the year the statue was dedicated) we cannot continue to take in the worlds poor uneducated people, regardless if they're children, or whatever age.
If we allow these kids to stay, we will see a flood of these so-called refugees unlike anything we have ever seen before.

This must stop, and these kids need to be sent back. No exceptions.

And to liberals, please seek professional help, and work to correct the reasons you people use emotions to do your thinking !!!

Utah isn't English.

And:

Utah (Spanish word of Nahuatl origin, first used by friar Gerónimo Salmerón as Yuta or Uta in Spanish[1])

I was born here, dipshit
As were my mother and father

Maybe you misunderstood what was said; at some point, your ancestors migrated here. Of course, native Americans came across the barring straight from Asia as well, so it looks like NO ONE has indigenous bragging rights.

Except for you, who's parents were both born here.

Of course WhoreHeAre 102 misunderstood what I'd said. He's too busy being a bigot.

His parents may have been born here, as well as himself, but how many generations back do you think he can trace his lineage before it goes back to another country?

I'm guessing no more than 5.

No, it just means that English speaking people show more respect to what was there before them than the illegal invaders ever would.
