We may express a difference of opinion, with passions that ignite and challenge various points of view. Sometimes it's within these moments that can so easily divide us as a nation, that we can so easily forget the sacrifices it took to establish and preserve those rights that we often take for granted. Rights we may not even begin to appreciate or even realize, until we find ourselves governed under the mercy of a foreign nation whos laws, expressed views, and positions can often be different from our own. Yet out of the midst of blood and ashes was born a nation so different, perhaps even radical from any other of its time. Birthed from just a simple "idea" that a country should be governed not by a tyrant or a king, but with the belief that "We the people" ... despite all their differences ... can lead, shape, and direct the course of a great nation. May we never forget the sacrifices it took to bring us here. I would like to start this thread in honor and memory of those who stood in the gap for the rest of us, laying down everything including their very lives. You will never be forgotten. Perhaps you have a memory you'd like to share, someone who made the ultimate sacrifice? Perhaps you are serving yourself, or have already served? I would like to establish this as a place where such images of patriotism, stories, and memories can be shared. Let us lay all politics aside and remember those who gave up SO much for the rest of us.
