Had this solar eruption been aimed at earth, our lives just might be dramatically changed. With our weakening magnetic field, a big solar shot could take out the entire world’s electrical grid. Then what?

Yes !! They still refuse to enhance the shielding on all electrical grids ; a giant solar storm would send us all into the dark ages for several months

I would be able to grow a lot more food if I couldn't access internet porn. I guess I would survive awhile.

Well maybe. I suspect the authorities would shut down all power plants, satellites, and other electrical components prior to the solar storm hitting earth. This might limit the damage, but who knows. A big storm could fry everything. If that happens, we’ll be in the dark ages for far longer than a few months.

We are very likely to find out this solar cycle, while the vast majority of Americans are focused on bitching about meaningless bs.

They can't fix the roads, bridges, control the border, maintain a reliable power grid or get the 'defense' budget under $800B. What makes you think they are ever going to harden infrastructure from EMP?
LOL!
We have faggot flags to fly son!

Aren't we in a 50 yr cycle or something of strong ones coming? Didn't we have one like 10 yrs ago that did some real damage

Then we dont have to worry about Global Warming any more......

We act like zombies.

You obviously don't know much about how solar flares impact electrical components. Is there anything you DO know? I can't recall anything.

I cannot for the life of Me understand why we would want the Defense budget to be under 800 billion dollars. If anything, it needs to be larger.

These are x-flares in the less than 1 to 1.5 range. We have been hit by much stronger flares than these before without much in the way of damage. We were hit with an X-28 flare in 2003 which was the strongest we have ever recorded and civilization did not end.

Depends on what they're spending it on.

At some point on this little planet there will be a real event that doesn't care about what life is on it and then we will all deal with it in our own way.

I believe you’re referring to May 13, 2013. The sun emitted an X2.8-class flare. X2.8.
